It was miserable ? Were you there or are you basing that on your extremely limited experience of the "now" that is all you have ever known or have to compare to anything?

You believe you have the knowledge or wisdom or understanding of a time and place you have never been to say that it was miserable and your current experience and state of being is better?

I'm stupid because I won't do what you want me to do or what you say I should do ?

Or I'm stupid because I refuse to adhere to something  you want to enforce or you will start to infringe upon my life and existence?

So imagine you're going in about your life and everything is fine and then someone says they want to inject you with a syringe or else you will begin losing rights and freedom.

I'm perfectly healthy and happy. I'm stupid because I won't inject myself with a foreign substance because someone is telling me it's for everyone's own good, including my own?

I just have trust issues I guess.

Thats what it comes down to.

Paranoid and untrusting.

I am basing it on the experience of having seen many people die tragically early in a horrifying way. I currently work in a trauma unit (gunshot wounds, bone/spine fracture or other major injury resulting from car or work accidents, etc.). I see people with chunks of their bodies missing from shotguns. People with femurs sticking out of their legs. The difference between those people and the COVID patient population is that (1) their hospitalizations tend to be comparatively short, predictable, and uncomplicated if they survive stabilization in the ED shock rooms, which gives them a sense that there is a light at the end of the tunnel, and (2) they are showered with the best drugs hospitals have to offer- fentanyl/dilaudid/oxyocodone, midazolam/lorazepam, propofol, ketamine, etc. Those that die generally do so within an hour of being shot or whatever- it's a while, but those who die of COVID are frequently hospitalized for 3-5 weeks before they die, and even those who die without being hospitalized are often ruthlessly sick for quite a while before dying. If dying like that used to be far more common- which it definitely was- it doesn't take calculus to determine that things used to be more miserable.

There are also a hundred other reasons human life used to be more miserable for the average human. Slavery, oppression of women, being forced to go off to war, not having a choice in your job or your spouse, being poor at shit, famines/natural disasters suddenly wiping everyone out, etc. But the untreatability of infectious disease was a big one.

It’s been five months since a vaccinated person has died of covid in Washington DC. Four in total. Out of 1000+ deaths.

yeah, i've not heard of it happening at my hospital either but apparently it does from time to time

probably a lot of people with untreated AIDS or on immunosuppressants for autoimmune or organ transplant etc.

My friend is HIV positive and now doesn’t take his meds because he’s been convinced by antivax propaganda that modern medicine is a scam.

He likes going to see djs and he can’t anymore because all the clubs in DC are vax only. So much freedom.

Total bullshit. I was done going out to clubs until they started mandating the vaccine. I went out Saturday night, the first night of the vaccine mandate and the club was packed. I talked to the bouncers and they said 95% of the people were happy about the requirement. Vaccine mandates are pro business which is why so many businesses are doing it without any government forcing them to do it. All the major clubs and venues and most restaurants in DC are vaccine only now, without anyone forcing them to do it.

People are so happy about this. They actually updated this policy and got rid of the testing option, so you have to have a vaccine.

Remember the testing lines? Now there are lines to get monoclonal antibody treatments. Free for the patient. $1300 a pop for taxpayers. They could have gotten antibodies through vaccination that cost taxpayers less than $20. I bet 90% of these people spend half their time complaining about socialism

Once again sitting in the parking lot before 645 shift. I'm sick of this anxious feeling in my gut everytime I am going into work. It was really bad 13 months ago, had basically gone away by late February, but it is roaring back with a vengeance. I don't even have to treat covid anymore but the ICU gets overflow of all kind of high acuity (MICU, Neuro ICU, CCU) patients due to other units being full right now and it is just... Whatever. But here I go anyway
