Basically, some people only listen in order to gather enough information to respond and once they do they tune out the rest of what is said until an opportunity for them to respond is presented. You see it in real life but it's even more insidious online because people can instantly tune out the rest of what you say without appearing socially uncouth in public

Not really, I agreed with some of the data like the post that showed the high % of non vax people in the hospital vs the vax people. That was also before I saw data showing the rate of obesity in those hospitalized which is an important factor.

I also read every single post on here offering data etc and even went and looked at the studies they were citing as reference since most of them didn't actually provide any data at all, they provided a viewpoint on the data and I prefer to view the data myself since they often use wording to support their intended bias and message.

I didn't read every one of the 20 or 50 mask studies or whatever but I read the first 5.

I disagree with a lot of what is being claimed the data shows and have a different opinion on what the actual data is showing.

Besides the data on the rate of hospitalizations of vax vs non vax.

I agree the data shows a correlation but I also noticed data is withheld or not talked about such as the above mentioned obese data.

Most people here aren't willing to look at data or info from both sides.

They think they're right and that's the end of it

I entertain the reality that I don't know. Which is part of the reason I don't get the vax.

I have more faith in myself than I do putting faith in those who wish to tell me what's in my best interest since I don't agree entirely with what's being said or what's being done.

Have you never taken college courses?

Some of what we do is gather credible data to support our claims in a paper and a lot of what we cover demonstrates how data is misconstrued or used to support a view or claim that the data doesn't actually represent.

A lot of times they will use wording that doesn't directly make them a liar and makes it sound like the data is supporting their claim when really it isn't

That's why we have peer reviewed journalism and use credible sources

But I know a lot of people never see the data and never look for it or look at the study, how it was conducted, what the data from the study says, etc

With 437k total deaths. Maybe im reading the wrong information or not understanding what you're saying or pointing out.

I literally just said how I agreed and accepted certain data

I haven't made posts of studies or data cherry picked acting as if it supports my claim.

I've only ever posted things while being open to the possibility it was not factual or correct and was misinformation because that's how I operate.

As I said earlier, 71% of the general public is overweight, 78% of ICU patients being overweight is obviously a pretty meaningless figure with that in mind.

Yes, being overweight will contribute to worse outcomes like it does with most disease. No one is hiding that, the BMI of a population during a raging pandemic is just not a realistically changeable factor unlike more effective and actually controllable factors such as vaccination status. The way that viral immunity works is that past exposure to the virus (or parts of it like through mrna vaccines) is your body's best defense, period. No amount of kale or vitamin D will supercede a vaccine. Some 400 pound guy twice your age who got vaccinated very well may have a stronger immune system than you as far as COVID is concerned.

No I accept data that actually shows what it's being claimed to show while rejecting claims about data that doesn't show or demonstrate what it was said to.

The data on vax vs non vax in hospital suggests that the vax is preventing hospitalization

A lot of posts make claims, cite sources, you have to go and look and read the cited source since they don't even provide the actual data supporting the claim.

They just spoon feed you whatever they want you to believe regardless of if the data demonstrates that.

Do you understand the difference ...?

As for deaths, India is actually by far the worst country in the world for covid deaths with actual deaths estimated to be around four million people based on mortality data. A lot of people die in India without ever seeking medical care or having a cause of death registered

I agree feevers except I don't agree that the statistic on obesity isn't important

To me that shows a potential root cause in our overall declining health as a society and our lack of responsibility for it.

How as a society will we fight off the next disease? Hope we can hurry up and make a vax?

Because if we continue to ignore our health and continue to pollute our minds and bodies we will remain weak and susceptible

I don't disagree about the vax showing effectiveness but that doesn't mean I don't think it will potentially carry it's own set of issues for our future

Seems like a short term bandaid that people think will be a long term solution to a problem that is being ignored

And I don't think me getting a vax will make much difference in that respect

Ok Koods I will agree with you for once and say that's a fair point that there may be cases of death unaccounted for because of the reason you mentioned, never seeking care etc.

These people don’t understand that we have two branches of the immune system. The innate immune system and the adaptive immune system. You can boost your immune response to infection with good habits and vitamins and maintaining good health, but absolutely none of that will activate your adaptive immune system except exposure to a microbes antigens. No amount of vitamin D will give you neutralizing antibodies except the disease or a vaccine.
