Beginner Teks

I have just been browsing the various teks, and it seems to me like the PF tek and others in the basic section are slightly more complex than some of the "advanced" ones, such as popcorn (or magash easy grain tek). I havent tried this tek but it seems at least cheaper than some of these basic teks. Why would a newbie use PF over popcorn or birdseed?

You have less risk of contamination with PF... also, PF can be fruited as cakes (good for newbies) and birdseed and popcorn are used for casing/bulk mostly
