Re: Pastywhyte’s Ez dialed monotubs [Re: D3_Myc]

If you zoom in on the pic you'll see that the droplets are quite large, my other tubs generally have as much moisture but the size of droplets are much smaller which permits evaporation. I'm assuming it hasn't pinned because of low evaporation, so we will see, otherwise it may have some unseen contamination.

3 weeks on the money for that tub, which isn't unheard of but still, seems odd to not even see knots yet.

Edit*

In addition I've been toying with the idea of running a small fan to blow straight o to the sub to accelerate evaporation. I'll see what I can find, those fat droplets need to hurry the fuck up. I've had the lid flipped and askew for 2 days now with no obvious decrease in surface moisture.

Flipping the lid won't do much, most of my boxes where I had slow pinning contaminated eventually. Usually I have full colonisation in about a week, pins by week 2 and harvest almost exactly by week 3.

Yeah you're probably right, this is my first RW tub in quite a while so I'm grasping at straws. Good thing there are more on the way, until then I'm going to wait and see what happens.

I dumped that tub. Something peculiar is going on with all of my RW tubs :mad2:, no problems with any of the others.

Try germinating new spores.

What generation are your spores??

My F7 or F8 spores...can't remember now...first two cultures I grew out would not pin, no matter what. a couple gave out some small blobbage and some did nothing after full colonization...3rd time germinating (same spores) I finally grew out a shoebox that pinned and grew decent fruits, cloned those and have been running with the same clones since then

I believe other people have had the same experience but I may be wrong.

No one got F7 spores. I gave out F8’s to the first recipients. I’ve heard some lines subsequently had issues which isn’t that surprising. Myself I’m working on the 10th gen next.

Shit memory I guess

Just dug up the original spore print

F9, guess this means I have been growing F10 and thinking it is F7 or F8 for a year or so

It was an f10 print, it is gone now though so I'm stuck with whatever this culture will or won't produce : (

Sorry for what probably a silly question here, but what is RW, is it a type of mushroom or tub design?

RustyWhyte, it's a variety that is Pasty's creation. It's my go to, fucking love it.

I can try and take a print for you if you can’t find anything salvageable

I suspect that my culture has some bacterial infection that is bound to the mycelial plane, all of my RW tubs have some kind of infection that looks like the combination of partially formed primordia/sclerotia squished up against the side of my tubs that never knot or pin. Only the RW cultures have this trait.

I'm hoping to get some plate pins but if the tubs won't pin then who knows if the plates will.

Is it possible to have a similar Ez dialed (no intervention) using a smaller container (shoebox size?) and if so how many holes and where to place them?

Don't think anyone really puts holes in shoeboxes. The imperfect seal of the lid to the shoebox will provide enough FAE and if you need more you can undo the latches on the lid or flip the lid when your fruits are getting close to maturity.

This is a recent shoebox I did just that with, set and forget.

Are those pictures of shoe boxes? Are you using liners in them?

The pic I just posted is a shoebox, the pic in my sig is a mono. I don’t see much use for liners in shoeboxes, I use them in mono’s but mostly cause they make harvesting and clean up easier.

Do you put the substrate to SB and leave it until it fruits similar to the Ez dialed monotubs?
