The tap water here is absolutely wretched... and I only drink it when sorely thirsty and completely out of money (which is all too often).

Then again, I don't much care for the taste of most kinds of bottled water, either.

We have pretty good tap water in my town and I'm grateful.

I usually use bottled or filtered water for drinking and bongs. I only use tap water to rinse crap off and to boil water for yaki soba. *drool*

Shroomism you gotta watch out for the worst chemical in tap water. It is called dihydrogen monoxide(dhmo). DMHO accounts for thousands of deaths every year. Someone should post some more scary facts about it.

You know... I've always kept myself well informed on substances, and refrained from ingesting a lot of things due to actual and potential hazard...

But when it comes to beer, I don't give a shit if it turns me inside-out. I love the stuff. :tongue:

ah yeah.. I heard about dihydrogen monoxide somewhere else..

The Invisible Killer
Dihydrogen monoxide is colorless, odorless, tasteless, and kills uncounted thousands of people every year. Most of these deaths are caused by accidental inhalation of DHMO, but the dangers of dihydrogen monoxide do not end there. Prolonged exposure to its solid form causes severe tissue damage. Symptoms of DHMO ingestion can include excessive sweating and urination, and possibly a bloated feeling, nausea, vomiting and body electrolyte imbalance. For those who have become dependent, DHMO withdrawal means certain death.

Dihydrogen monoxide:

* is also known as hydroxl acid, and is the major component of acid rain.
* contributes to the "greenhouse effect."
* may cause severe burns.
* contributes to the erosion of our natural landscape.
* accelerates corrosion and rusting of many metals.
* may cause electrical failures and decreased effectiveness of automobile brakes.
* has been found in excised tumors of terminal cancer patients.

Contamination Is Reaching Epidemic Proportions!
Quantities of dihydrogen monoxide have been found in almost every stream, lake, and reservoir in America today. But the pollution is global, and the contaminant has even been found in Antarctic ice. DHMO has caused millions of dollars of property damage in the midwest, and recently California.

Despite the danger, dihydrogen monoxide is often used:

* as an industrial solvent and coolant.
* in nuclear power plants.
* in the production of styrofoam.
* as a fire retardant.
* in many forms of cruel animal research.
* in the distribution of pesticides. Even after washing, produce remains contaminated by this chemical.
* as an additive in certain "junk-foods" and other food products.

Companies dump waste DHMO into rivers and the ocean, and nothing can be done to stop them because this practice is still legal. The impact on wildlife is extreme, and we cannot afford to ignore it any longer!

The Horror Must Be Stopped!
The American government has refused to ban the production, distribution, or use of this damaging chemical due to its "importance to the economic health of this nation." In fact, the navy and other military organizations are conducting experiments with DHMO, and designing multi-billion dollar devices to control and utilize it during warfare situations. Hundreds of military research facilities receive tons of it through a highly sophisticated underground distribution network. Many store large quantities for later use.

But yeah.. I'm glad you guys have clean tap water. I live in the DC area.. and what with all the chemical production facilities, genome laboratories and other various agents of death.. I can't trust it.

Shroomism 90% of bottled water is just either plain tap or lightly purified tap water. It is all a scam.

The only things you should be actually worried about are the stuff that purifiers dont pick up. Such as the female hormone crap they have recently developed for menopause and other things. It comes out of their piss and ends up in the water supply. This stuff has led to the feminization of male fish in parts of the oceans.

Some tap water is okay filtered. Some tap water I try not to drink even if it is filtered. I can tell if I want to drink it from the taste and from how it looks. I honestly don't mind paying for spring water by the gallon because it is a world of difference. Nothing beats a tall glass of ice cold spring water after a night of drinking.

Boil your water for 5-10 minutes, then put it through a water filtration product. I use Brita.

Boiling your water is really only good for killing anything living in it...which the chlorine and other chemicals should have already done :smirk:

Also: you should read the fine print on your Brita filters. Last one I used said, near the bottom and in small print:
"Leaves a healthy ammount of floride in the water" (emphasis is mine).

:lol:

Yup. My water is like triple filtered plus reverse osmosis plus ultra violet light cleansed (don't think the last does too much). I do drink Trinity water as a mineral supplement though. It comes from a crystal lined granite well 2 miles deep and does contain lots of minerals including NATURALLY OCCOURING fluoride. This is the best water I have EVER tasted. It is almost sweet-tasting. It is Sooooo good when you are high. Look for it in your natural food store. With the yellow label. http://www.trinitysprings.com/
