Thick Casing

I found that my casing layer was too thick and its not taking a long time for the mycelium to colonize. Would it be smart to remove some of the casing layer or should i just let it sit and hope that it will colonize.

do you see any colinization on the casing layer?
if not then you might be able to take some of it off
i would prob just wait it out though

Ya i think something might be happening but its still hard to tell. One other question im noticing a bluish tint on my cakes and i also see some extra fuzzy type of coating on top of parts of these areas. Is this a contam? Or is the humidity not high enough and thats why they still havent pinned after 2 weeks. What do i do.

sounds like your cakes are bruised. As long as its localized and it doesnt grow its a bruising. Will be a light blue. The fuzz is good that means you have a high humidity and they are fluffing up. Next step is the nots, and then the pins.....

And with the casing its not taking a long time? lol... sorry bub, unless you made it more than 5 or 6 inches I would just leave it as long as there are no contams you will get a good yield (h20 = shr00m). You may wish to spray it with an h202/h20 mixture to cut down on contams if you are spraying. Otherwise leave the goddamn thing alone.

Well i looked again and i saw some green, didnt like the look of it so i chucked it. The blue was spreading some and i just didnt want to risk it. Its too late the cakes gone. and the fluff completely grew right over the verm i had put on the cakes.
