Salvia - good or bad?
    #2660251 - 05/10/04 06:20 PM (12 years, 7 months ago)

I tried salvia for the first time about six months ago and have smoked it a few times since. I totally went into thinking I would just get a thc like buzz...whooaa! I was flat out trip'n for a half-our or so. Anyways to the question; Is it relativiley harmless like ganja or harmless to you in any way (other than your lungs if you are smoking it) The main reason I am wondering is a Herbalist (so he said) said that smoking salvia div. was very bad for your body and brain, he mentioned somthing about your brain bleeding/hemorages...Just curious! no matter what, of course I will partake of this great and wonderful plant!!! Thanks!

No, that is tripe.
Salvia is no more harmful than cannabis.
It effects the Kappa-Opiod receptor in the brain.
I don't know the exact details, but you should check on erowid.org

The only bad physical effects I have noticed were a slight headache afterwards. I'm quite sure it wasn't my brain hemoraging....

That's a ridiculous statement.

So what you're saying is: even if salvia did cause your brain to bleed you would still smoke it?

I hope not.

I feel very very sorry for any individual who has even aproached the LD50 for Salv. A. That, I would think would cause some sort of permanent psychological trauma if they lived through it and didn't bleed to death from clawing their eyes out or something along those lines.

It's one thing when you know you're putting salvia in your body, but could you imagine being a rat, in a cage, kept by humans.. and one day being dosed with a HUGE shot of salvorin to test the LD50....
.....i wonder if you can scare a rat to death, cause if that dosent, I dunno what would.

Smoker For Peace, I suppose you are right...but still people beat the shit out of their bodies...and if it did make my brain "bleed" I would still do in moderation every once in a blue moon...this might seem odd but it is more than getting high for me. But from what I have gathered it is fairly harmless, wooohooo!

My friend does DXM everyday and that makes hs brain bleed. I think that DXM can be beneficial, but things like that should be taken in moderation, not every day for 4 years straight. He's a fucking moron though. Even things like mushrooms should be taken in moderation though. These are sacraments not coca-cola.

One thing I live by is a little thing called BALANCE...I believe it is essential for a good body, mind and spirit. And in this case meaning a balance between soberness and having your mind altered by a drug.

That should really be practiced with pot more. I am not saying that you have to go dance naked in the woods everytime you get stoned or anything, it's just some people try to act like its entirely harmless, it's not a drug, and its not at all addictive. I feel like I would have used it more responsibly, if when I had started smoking it, people were a little more realalistic about it. No offence to you daily smokers. I have been one too and everything. I am just saying at least be more honest with yourself about it. Oh yeah, Freevibe rules.
