I remember seeing the graph ,but I cant remember where either!

I dont need one to tell you that your change from 65 to 86 will make a HUGE difference in the colonization time of your substrate. Once you drop below 80 IME they get very slow and you get very frustrated. I would imagine they are getting ready to swarm over that cake right now.

Butternut squash are softer than acorn or other types of squash, which makes them easier to cut and prepare.

That outta help me out with my mexicana... I believe my incubation temps are a bit low according to this graph (75-81 as indicated by TMC is not exacly optimum, looks like 80F is about optimum)...

Mine is about 76-77F, time to crank it up a notch... Thanks B-nut, didn't know that was in there!

by measuring the growth across a petri plate in millimeters with a clone on a specific media poured at the exact same volume per petri plate.

lots of duplicates, each grown at a different temperature in an incubator that can be controlled, and maintain a constant temp.

You have to rule out gentic variation(clones), media depth variation, and MAINTAIN constant Environmnmental parameters EXCEPT the one variable you would be changing.

I guess in your case it is media formulation you would be testing.

you got to use AGAR to measure linear growth.
with spawn, fruiting substrates you would measure time to germination, time to colonization.
