Trip report - Mushroom fever + rash

Trip report - 1st harvest. Last harvest.

Harvested 15g, blended fresh with OJ. Great trip,
mellow little trip. It Lasted about 3 hours accompanied by some mild nausea. As I began to return to baseline I decided to harvest 6g fresh from a different cake and make tea hoping for one last little wave of magic before bed.

The first 15g were not the same strain as the second 6g. One was B+ the other was golden teacher.
Not sure which was which.

The second dose was mushroom tea with a squirt of lemon, i drank a third of the tea and topped it off with hot water again. I added a second dash of lemon juice and I took the tea out to the garage and rolled myself a joint. By the time I had the joint lit my arms began to itch and tingle, I decided something felt off and returned inside after only a few puffs off the joint. I retuned inside and got myself a glass of water to help myself finish the shroom tea. The tea became more nauseating with each sip. Soon after sitting back down my wife told me my face looked red, I told her that I felt flush. I sat up began to gag, and immediately gave my wife a serious “I need a bowl” look, and she returned with a large bowl just in time for my to vomit.

I went to the mirror and looked at myself. No bueno. Full body rash complete with mild swelling near and hives.

Face red w/ some hives
Redness around both armpits
Redness around inner arm/elbows and raised hives here
Swollen and swelling red around groin and inner thighs
Entire stomach and back red

My wife is a ICU nurse, and confirmed that in fact these were not imagined. I felt completely sober though anxious waiting for my throat to close, feeling a slight tingly itch in my lips.

I believe I had a reaction to a specific strain, either b+ or golden teacher. The little mushies I took last did have a odd look about them. I thought they were aborts at first, because they grew so slow compared to the other cake flushing at the same time. The stem was course and stringy, and the cap was large and dark. The mushrooms were each small 3grams a piece fresh. Both had dark brown caps. As I sliced them thinly  with a razor blade, each slice turned dark blue immediately. Looking back now I don’t know why I ingested  them, I feel like I should have known they didn’t look right.

I ended up throwing away my entire grow. Plus 30 jars of myc

Sad to see it go, but not that sad. Not big on allergic reactions.

WOW, lucky you had a nurse there.

1st and last harvest. Must have shook you up pretty bad there. It's strange but very possible to have had a contamination. But to throw the whole process out the window seems a little drastic. Very strange reaction for sure. Hmmm, I don't know how I would handle that situation. If I had have that happen to me on my first harvest I might have done something similar. I'm also a bit anal about my things. I marked every cake, every tub with what it was. You know, B1, GT1.

It seems as though your first bunch of mushrooms were just fine. 15 g fresh. that's a low dose. That second batch in tea sounded like the culprit. Do you think you're done with them or might you try again in the future.

You can always take pictures and bring them here and we will give you advice on the condition of the fruits and your overall grow. We have trusted cultivators just for that purpose.

Maybe it wasn't the mushrooms, maybe there was a mold or bacteria present on them that you didn't notice. That could have cause the reaction

If they were both cubensis variants then there is no reason why one should be fine for you and the other cause a moderate allergic reaction.

Best of luck to you brother. Next time before tossing take pictures and post them here.

It was drastic, but whilst my rash was growing more red, and swelling was growing worse I was unsure where/how I would end up.

I was imagining a scenario where cops were walking into my house while a ambulance was on its way. I thought while I still have mobility I needed remove everything that could cause me legal problems. It felt like a race against time, and after being bit by whatever mold, bacteria, or mushroom allergy I did not care at all. I couldn’t relax and calm down until they were gone.

Maybe it was a isolated event, but I can’t see myself rolling the dice again. Mushrooms turned out to be my favorite mind altering substance out of anything else I’ve tried. For me personally they just might not be a good fit.

For anyone else experiencing the rash, what put me at ease was understanding that if I was going to lose my airway odds are it would have happened fast.

It's possible that you grew something that wasn't cubensis. There are some mushrooms that can cause an allergic reaction, and accidentally growing non-cubensis mushrooms happens sometimes. Especially the way you describe the mushrooms and how long they took to grow compared to your others makes me suspicious.

Yes it is, though I bought spores from a reputable dealer.
They did bruise blue, hard and fast, and I assumed that they were cubes that had not quite matured. I had 4oz cakes and decided to eat the second shrooms because they were all I had left ready to eat and didn’t want the trip to end yet.

Something about them didn’t look right looking back. I was having such a good trip up until I made the tea with fruit from the second cake.

That was my 3rd shroom trip and I had no prior issues.

I felt no psychedelic effects from the tea though it was a low dose which I did not completely consume. I would estimate I drank half of the tea from 6g fresh. If I saw them again I would recognize them. I’m going to search through contamination posts the next few days and see if I can match anything.

I would also like to note that for a extended period of time I was over misting. I include this because I may have created a environment for contamination to grow. Probably a full week of over watering, soon after I eased back the misting fruits began growing.

I took one as soon as  I thought I could keep it down. Just stayed up for a few hours to monitor rash, and went to bed when redness began to fade.
