Crimini mushroom on Petri dish

I don't know if this is what crimini mushrooms look like on agar or not, it looks very slimy. Any ideas? Thanks!

Those are bacteria. Agaricus sp. on agar are mostly fluffy white.

definitely bacteria
If cloning make sure you tear the mushroom this will prevent contaminants from being pushed into where you will be taking tissue by a scalpel or knife.
Mushrooms that are particularly dirty i dip in iodine before cloning, but i only do this with wild specimens.


I do NOT believe this to be the cause but the parafilm around that dish looks tattered. Id make sure that you have complete seal around your dish and there are no cracks allowing contaminants in. Parafilm will dry out and begin to crack so make sure you keep it in a freezer bag.
If It contaminated like this you would most likely first notice the contam at the edge.
