Took tape off of injection port on spawn bag before inoculation.

(First attempt at growing) Is this wrong to do? I got some spawn bags from midwest grow kits & just knocked one up with 4.5cc Colombian Rust. I took the tape off that was covering the injection port before inoculating, & after watching more videos on this subject I feel I may have fucked up... any info on this?

nah your probably fine, im unfamiliar with those bags but an injection port is usually self healing.
post a pic if you want a better answer.

There were two pieces of clear tape tightly covering the port, they were pretty tough to get off.

That's a stick on port. You should slap a piece of packaging tape over it just to be safe.

Their bags are horrible. Highly likely it'll contam. Like, 99% failure rate with those fucking things. They're incredibly wet too.

Hmm.. my buddy who gave me the idea to give this a shot had success with their bags.. Any info on their bulk casing? I’m sitting on a 5lb bag of it.

Anyone have success or failure with midwestgrowkits bags?

Literally just search the this site. Their products are garbage.

Just start making your own jars with PF TEK now so when the bags contam you have something else going.

anybody have any suggestions on materials to make my own stuff? or any reputable sources for prepared bags / jars / casing? I’ve done a good amount of homework but I know I’ll have to do some more regardless. I know everybody has different preferences and experiences but I’ll always take advice from somebody who’s more experienced. like I said, this is my first attempt so I’m not so worried about spending a couple extra bucks just to have a successful small run. I’ve grown cannabis successfully for 5 or 6 years now & would like exploring mycology.

Also- should I use the second spawn bag / bulk substrate from midwest? I still have 5.5cc Columbian Rust from LilShopOfSpores & tomorrow I have a Burma syringe from sporeworks arriving. Should I try some of that with the second bag or just get something else?

Just buy any verm and brown rice flower. That's really all you need to get going. Look into PF TEK on here, which the video is. Then look into making shoeboxes.

Update: I’ve been busy/lazy lately so I recently ordered a handful of BRF jars off Etsy. On the other hand, the spawn bag I inoculated a week ago today has started showing a tiny bit of growth! I’d upload a picture but something’s up with the site :/
