What temp is best for Inoculating spawn bags?
    #27293610 - 05/04/21 09:18 AM (2 years, 8 months ago)

I just G2G three spawn bags using a master bag I had leftover.

The average temperature of the bags were anywhere from 70-93 that's what my temp gun was telling me.

Is that to hot to be innoculating them?

Also could I take the bags out of the PC and put them on a shelf when the PC goes back down to 0 PSI so the bags could cool off faster? Or could that cause contamination?

I don't seal the bags before hand I put rubber bands around them and it usually makes the bags vacuum tight.

Wait until your bags have cooled to room temp before inoculation. Bags can cool on a shelf or in a tote.
Bags are gtg without a rubber band, they seal in the PC.

You can also cool them in front of your hood.

Bags do not always seal in the PC but they do if they are done up properly.

P9, Have you taken them out while smoking ass hot and placed them on an open shelf to cool? I've done it once they cooled off a bit but wouldn't recommend it "As soon a it reaches 0 psi". Might be fine though.

You dont wanna fuck with them right at 0psi like the honorable Verum said for sure, too hot and soft.

But I take them to a shelf to finish cooling after a few hours regularly, unsealed but top is tucked under and they are vacuum tight. Otherwise they take forever to cool.

Yes I've taken them out hot but I don't like to do it because it's inconvenient. It's not often that I need more than what I can run in the 75x and my 1915x side by side.

My bags always seal, I make the assumption that the poster knows how to wrap bags when I say that kind of stuff, lol.

The best option is to let them cool in the pc  obviously. Even on a shelf or in front of the hood it takes forever for their thermal mass to cool to room temps. Like, many hours. That's why I don't like it.

My answer was leaning more towards what temp to inoculate at, I sort of glossed over the fact that he was taking them out early. It can be done but it sucks, might as well just wait because you're not really speeding anything up by taking them out of the pc before it's cool.

The bags seal while the pc is venting before the cycle. I know this because I had some issue with my presto and 1915x that required the lids to be taken off shortly after reaching 15 psi. I had small leaks that needed to be fixed. Bags were sealed perfectly and they hadn't run even 10 mins into the cycle.

My point is that bags don't require a cooled vessel to seal.
