Not yet, apparently we got to do 150 each person to do our fair share; so you've got 90 left to go.
I think I've planted maybe a couple dozen trees throughout my life, so really I could go out on a weekend or two and plant some trees and bang out my 150 per life goal.

A big limitation they fail to consider.

Wildfires

Recent studies have shown that fires have become so frequent in recent times in Northern America that many of  the forests are now net producers of CO2. When a tree is burnt much of the carbon contained is released straight back into the atmosphere. You'd need far more than a trillion trees because one fire can wipe out millions if not billions of trees and decades of progress. Until they have rot into the soil the CO2 hasn't really been contained.

Not to even mention where you would plant all these trees. Urban environments are quite limited. You'd need to use grazing and farming land, goodluck convincing farmers to sacrifice productivity and land. Planting in cold climates and deserts and grasslands is obviously limited. The earth is approx 30% greener than the pre industrial age as a direct result of the extra CO2 and even with all that extra chlorophyll CO2 emmisions are still far out pacing natural capturing of CO2 and these emmisions are only increasing.

It's a nice thought though.

Also does it need to be trees? If I remember correctly trees arent the most efficient CO2 containers. Fast growing plamts like bamboo/hemp are way more efficient

More trees will sink more CO2 but there is a limit. Trees only get so big and only live so long and when they die their carbon content is released back into the environment as CO2 and methane. The fact is that fossil fuels are the product of millions of years of sequestered organic material and recapturing that carbon in temporary sinks like trees isn’t going to make much of a difference in the long run.

I think it's doable, everyday normal people can even do it passively using:

  - ecosia as a search engine sometimes (I have been using it for a year and a half and my searches have accounted for about 70 trees being planted [allegedly])

  - tab for a cause, where every tab you open generates ad revenue that you can donate to a charity you want

  - buying games through humble bundle.

  - probably a shitload more stuff out there too where you don't have to donate money of effort


China and the African Union both have great green wall programs to reclaim deserts, and a great deal of awareness is catching on around the world. If you look at the timeline of Eden Reforestation Projects (a charity), they planted 100 million trees between 2004 and 2016, and by 2018 they hit 200 million trees planted, so they're getting bigger and better every year.

I've planted a couple hundred thousand, will plant more if someone pays me. But there isn't much work like that in my area.

No because there is no man made climate problem.

The sun causes global warming and cooling.

CO2 is what plants consume and turn into oxygen.

Human CO2 emmissions account for less than 10% of climate change.

So whats the problem?  Its a hoax.

Reminds me of typical humans worried about change so they try to fix something and make it way worse.

You'll hear bitching extinction is happening 1000x faster than it should. They don't know that. New species are also happening faster than normal and new species is proliferating faster than extinction events.

Humans are just extremely adverse to changes.

The ice caps formed. Which means they can melt again.

Humans are nature. Not separate from it. The industrial revolution was a natural process not some human disaster.

I planted one tree in my life, I was 8 years old and it was part of a school project of some sort. That tree is now 30 feet tall easy.
