Researchers find that planting one trillion trees could solve the climate problem. * 2

If people in Canada, Russia, Autralia, USA, Brazil and China planted a total of one trillion trees, we would solve the climate crisis.

A study made in Switzerland figured that it would be the cheapest and most effective solution to elimate at least 25 years of air polution in a very short time.

Thoughts?

The only way that's ever gonna get done is when it's too late to be a viable solution. Trillion is a lot. I'd be surprised if the world worked together to plant just a billion.

One Canadian tree planting company (Outland Reforestation) has planted 1.5 billion trees since 1985. There are individual people who have planted over a million over their careers. A trillion is a fuck of a lot though. Ideally you'd want to use as much automation as possible.

That would be about 130 trees per person regardless of age or health status.

Thats pretty idealistic. Maybe if it were done magically tomorrow, they would grow up in time to be of help. But a plan like that just isn't fast enough and requires too much cooperation, too much land. There are CO2 scrubbing machines that have been shown to have a maximum ability to replace 40 million trees a piece. If we forced regulations that every energy company had to install at least as many of those as it takes to create a completely neutral carbon footprint, we could stop climate change in its tracks until we thought of a permanent solution.

But that requires energy companies to not own the planet soooooo we are fucked

the biggest problem is we are seeing a mass extinction of species and once that goes to far there's no coming back from that

Don't quote me on this but I'm pretty sure more species have gone extinct in the planet's history than are extant today. I'm not saying it's a good thing, but I don't think the human race will be fucked because some seals and penguins are wiped off the planet. And the earth itself will be fine, it's survived far worse for millennia at a time.

I'm not saying it's ideal either, but we've gone too far for just planting trees and protecting wetlands. Human population will get above 10 billion before most of us are dead, and all those people have to live somewhere and get their food from somewhere. We will absolutely continue to destroy forests and cause forest fires. We need to be realistic, a trillion trees sounds like a joke figure

A asteroid destroyed like 90 % of the species on the planet and it bounced back. Its seems to always bounce back. I think artificial intelligence is going to destroy the human race so I'm sure the planet will be fine.
