ID help
    #26082041 -

Hi, had a good pick this afternoon and came across this large one toward the end. It was in growing in the bark amongst the others, though when I went to dry it later in the eve there seemed to be a lack of blueing so I just wanted to double check as there a lot of the more orange variety about. I was 100% when I picked it, now own i’m only 90% positive.

Doing a spore print now (hence the broken stem) so any advice on that front would be welcome also.
Thanks again. Really love the community that helps run this site.

Are the gills purple, brown or a combination? I'm having a hard time being able to tell.

Sorry. Stem was mostly white but has bruised brown.
Colour on the top is caramel
Gills are light brown though I do see what looks like pen ink stains in areas.
Even though there is little blueing stains in the stem.

Thanks

Because it looks older and water logged, it's hard for me to identify. It's possible it is Psilocybe serbica. But I feel I could be way off on this one.

Thanks. I’ll get back with a spore print tomoz then. It was growing aside other Subs. What am I looking for in a spire print specifically? More dark purple And not rusty red is what I believe is the key yeah?

To confirm my theory, purplish brown
But you say it was growing along side subbs? Does that mean it wasnt growing from wood? Or that it was growing from wood just next to where some cinctulus where growing? My theory is definitely incorrect if it wasnt coming from wood.

Also, Victoria Australia.
On tan bark.

Sorry, should have mentioned all that at the start.

Pretty sure that’s just a well worn, mature sub.

Cinctulus dont grow from wood? I've never heard of tan bark, but I assume its brown bark from a unknown tree.

LOL, my apologies. When I see sub I automatically think cinctulus.

Thanks all. That was my assumption too. And yeah subaeruginosa is what I meant sorry.

Here is the spore print. It seems more purpled brown depending on the light I look under, but not really rusty. Is that helpful?
Thanks again.

I recommend you use natural light to look at spore prints and wait until the print is dry, especially when it comes to lighter colored spore prints. White could actually be lilac, I have had a few that the true spore color isn't obvious until it dried.

No colour change on the spore print through the day.

These pics seem pretty similar to what how it appears in daylight.  My main concern is just that this is not a Deadly Galerina Marginata. I’m fairly confident in spotting them usually but I know they were growing along side the subs and figured a second set of eyes is best.

It didn’t break easily like the Galerina’s usually do, but yeah.

Is anyone on the fence with this one?

It's not Galerina, notice the purple brown spore print you have, Galerina has a rusty brown, checkout this link and look at the color of the spore compared to yours and you will see a huge difference between the two. I'm just telling you to be careful when picking, take your time and make sure that you have what you want, which in this case it is a Psilocybe subaeruginosa that you posted, your spore print confirms it.

Edit: I forgot to add the link
