Noob Impatience
    #26070696 -

I birthed BRF cakes last Wednesday, soaked for 24 hours, rolled in verm (it didn't stick that well) and put them in a SGFC Thursday night. I've been misting/fanning 3 times a day. With no pinning after 3 1/2 days I started getting worried I wasn't doing things right.

I got on here this morning to post about it and read several threads about it takes 3-14 days for pinning. That puts me at ease some. I'm just impatient/excited for my first flush.

you mist when the cakes look dry and needs misting. not X amount of times per day. fanning is dumb. especially in a sgfc(all the fucking holes)

moisture needs to evaporate off the cake. you periodically mist to replenish the surface moisture that evaporates. a soaked cake cant evaporate to well so dont soak them.

Thanks for the input. I was going to ask how to tell if they need misting but I remembered the Misted Cake Project and I think I'm not misting enough.

If the verm didn't stick too well, I'd recommend misting more lightly but more frequently. The verm barrier tends to hold a moisture for a bit for the mycelium mass.
