Kendo said: OK so noob and off topic question, so i got a few cams that are opening up in my mono tub, but the rest are small still, so I'm wondering can i take a pair of scissors and cut the caps off, and would the stems continue to to grow on? or would they die off?
and also all the pics i see on here the veils are open always they full grown and beautys, but my buddy was telling me that i should pick em b4 they open cuz it stops making the physcoactives in them and focus's on spores so they less potent, any truth to that or should i let them grow to be BEASTLY?
Remove the whole mushroom cutting it with a scalpel or some sort of razor (something sharp enough to cut clean)
The ideal time to harvest is right as the veil is tearing or shortly before
a good example is
or some people prefer harvesting like this
I usually let the caps flatten out for the simple fact I like the way they look that way. Personal preference
If you want prints though you let the caps open up a little bit after the veil tears

Use 11/4" holes, then stick a metal closet hanger bar through em for the dunk... (like 6 bucks for a six footer at home depot... use a hacksaw or sawzall to chunk it up... even make your holes with it)
Also, the holes in a mono provide little to no FAE, cubes are just way Co2 tolerant... There'll be a positive effect on yield if you fan them... the thing is though, when you're harvesting a half pound off of a single flush (OZZ!) the difference is going to be negligible.

Kendo said: i changed the thread title, cuz out of 320 veiws i get 1 or 2 helpful answers, when my buddie first showd me this site he would ask a question, and there would be lots of helpful guys on here, within minutes of him asking, like P.menace damion shroomy1, where did they all go? but yea i went to bed last nite after i posted my last post, thread had 218 veiws so 102 more veiws and no1 wanted to answer my question.
OK so first off, i have a cambo mono tub which is 18 gallon tub, 4 holes cut in each side, bottom holes have tyvek over them and top holes have polyfill. it contains 4qt not all the way full jars of 100% colonized WBS cambo and 6qt full jars of coir, (i know that is not the correct ratio, i was going for quickness)1st. what would be a good ratio in a 18g tub? 2nd after i mixed it, it was completely white and colonized in 5 days, should i have gave it a few more days? so i changed the lid of the tub to a lid with a square cut out with plastic over it taped down, with a 6500K day lite over it for 12 hours on/12 off, it has been like that with the lights for a week now, and its not hypal knotting or anything, also there was some standing water(puddles) in the corners, that bad? they were there for about 2 days, i fanned alot more and they went away but there is still standing water on top of myc, and i haven't been misting much since theres so much standing water in there. so enough with how it is and now to what i want to know, i fan it about 5-7 times a day for about 15 secs, I'm i not fanning enough? or im i just being impatient? i figured a week and no knots or nothing, something has to be wrong? should i just wait? it just driving me nuts i guess lol, This is my first mono tub, now to my Koh question, also first time doing Kohs, done a few other strains in small pans, OK so the Kohs i had 1qt not all the way full jar of 100% colonized WBS i spawned it to prolly 1 1/2 or 2 jars of coir(i didn't measure)and a half a handful of spent coffee grounds, in a small prolly 12"L 10"W 2"D aluminum pan, lined with a trash bag.( i cut a square out of a white bag) it took about 2 weeks to colonize, i put it in a shotgun chamber it stays at 80-95% humidity. the lighting system for these are 2 48" 6500K daylight bulbs i put crumbled wax paper over it, it knotted like crazy the first flush was 185g wet 21g dry.and i didn't have tweezers at the time so i left the Lil babies on it. so i dunked it for 4 hours, let drain for 4 hours in my bath tub sitting on a rack,i put it back in the Shotgun chamber its been 4 days, there is 2 on the bottom of it that have been there since 3 days ago, which first flush none was on bottom, and 1 Lil guy popped up this morning, i still have the was paper on it, and nothing is really happening, I'm i just being impatient with this as well? i fan and mist them more often then my mono, OK i think that it is it, if i confused any1 I'm sorry in advance
You need to break up long posts so they can be read. On a computer, the lines all run together if you don't put line breaks in, and that's why so many people clicked off your post.
You need to use real sentences, and not run-ons with various thoughts separated only by commas. Such is impossible to read. Use proper sentence structure with a capital letter to begin a sentence and a period to end each one.
Break up your separate thoughts into paragraph form like I'm doing here. That way people don't get lost trying to figure out what you're trying to say. I tried to read the above but got lost several times and finally gave up when my eyes got watery. That's why you had so many views and hardly any responses. RR

I dont think there is anything wrong with new people no matter the age to start growing mushies I mean I think the love of mushrooms should be spread and the more people are takin em the better. Its a culture made for the old and the young. I think most of us forget what its like to be younger I kno I do and bitch a lot about younger kids but then I take a breath in and realize its okay :] i was that young once and had to learn everything just like everyone else.

not to mention the type of mushrooms that a typical 16 year old wants to cultivate its illegal ad there is something wrong with that. there parents will loose there house and possibly got to jail and a whole heap of other negative shit. not to mention when one of there high school biddies eats a 1/4 and flips out thinking he's dieing then they will put it out as a OD on dangerous killing mushrooms, there's nothing good about young kids cultivating them and nothing good will come from it, use your head before you speak.

wow dude First off a 16 year old can spell better than you can apparently the word is their* not there, as in their parents. I'm not saying oh yea everyone become a mushroom cultivator but I think this is a much better hobby than say starting a meth lab or like sittin around not doin anything, I mean ya
I agree with galadar they should read a little instead of just askin a stupid question, because yes there is such thing as a stupid question. But sometimes I think younger people or noobs are a little how should i say scared of asking a little more or trying to learn more because of rude people quite like yourself.. this site I think is like a friend network for common interest not just a be rude about someones opinion.
Cuz that's all i was throwin in was an opinion to maybe make a little more peace.
all about about peace, and mushrooms ;]

Ok check it out. I wasn't out of line or rude at all. I was simply stating the facts. And as far as the spelling goes, i don't give a fuck, i was typing fast and not paying attention. But if you would like to continue on with you opinion that doesn't hold water. Lets do. First off, the forum rules is 18 and older, no one younger should be on here unless they lie about there age in the first place. So with that said why the fuck should we help em. And you make no sense, if they are scared or worried about asking things then they would simply search and do there homework on the topic at hand and wouldn't have to ask the questions. I have no problem with them having an interest in it but i do have a problem with them taking other peoples freedom in their hands as you are telling them to do. You make no sense and have no leg to stand on, so quite trying. Ask any Trusted cultivator or respectable member of this site and you will get the same answer. a 16 year old shouldn't for one be on the site and for two shouldn't be cultivating. they should wait until they get older and move out on there own. so sorry if i upset you but the truth is the truth.

first off referring to me as a 16 year old is kinda of insulting seeing how I'm in my late 20's, second just cuz I'm not the "PF PIMP" I'm a noob and was worried my bad, but wtf is wrong with asking a question. I didn't feel like searching for hours for the correct answer, when i was introduced to this site, i seen my buddies question always get answered with in like 15 mins. get off my wrinkled sack

This thread has been closed.
Reason: This isn't a chat room, and flaming isn't allowed in mushroom cultivation. This thread has served its purpose and now gets to die a horrible death. RR
