I thought of something & I’m stuck * 1
    #26060454 -

I’ve thought of something and it’s hurting my head so traveling at the speed of light you can advance forward in time in theory correct?
So if we were to send a remote controlled robot in a ship at light speed travel it 50 years forward in time when it came back and we controlled the robot still hooked up to the remote Would we be controlling the robot from the past future or present????🤯🤯🤯🤯 (assuming our control of the robot operated on entanglement & we could control it even tho it is traveling @ light speed)

Theoretically, You would be operating a 50 year younger robot relayively speaking in the present.

Like having a conversation with someone when you're 50 years older than when last time you spoke.

I think.

Well wouldn’t it be you controlled it for 50 years but it’s only 30 years old?

I wonder if the rate at which the robot viewed reality moved at twice the speed (or whatever the difference is) so it was like controlling the robot in fast forward.......That’s the only way I can see it make up for the difference in time if your sharing a Consciousness (essentially) Traveling at two different speeds through time

This thread is why massive objects cannot travel at the speed of light and thus, through time.

It doesn't say anywhere that consciousness cannot travel through time. It doesn't say anywhere that the phenomenon of awareness is constrained in any way by temporal duration. That's the basket I'd put my eggs in rather than thought experiments about impossible phenomena.

Well of course the hypothetical situation is to just explain the concepts of consciousness traveling at two different speeds through time and what the perception of said consciousness would feel like on the other end I just didn’t know a better way to Explain what I was talking about so I used the example of a spacecraft Time Machine

But if you're traveling through time you have mass. So your thought experiment doesn't make sense.

Well that depends if our Consciousness is non-local our body then is a sensually an avatar and we are traveling through Space at the speed of light relative to many things

I don't think it works like that.
time travel is more closely related to gravity travel than light travel

would we be controlling the robot from the past future or the present?

--we would be controlling it from both.  if the future has been observed, then it becomes the present.

"The only reason for time is so that everything doesn't happen at once."--Albert Einstein

time is a circle, where the present leads to the future which already exists and this future leads to the present and the past.

the future already exists and streams towards consciousness, becoming the present, and then continues into the past.

consciousness is entangled with the space-time continuum which includes the future.

space-time, however, is affected by gravity and acceleration, and can shrink and contract as gravity and velocity increase.

as demonstrated in quantum mechanics, consciousness and the act of perceptual registration directly impact the quantum continuum through interactions via the wave function and through entanglement.

the fragmentation of time into temporal sequential units where causes proceed effects are also a derivative of consciousness.

thus, Consciousness, like gravity and electromagnetic waves is relative and can affect distant objects and events, including perhaps those in the future and the past.

would the robot then experience déjà vu?

this demonstration you speak of - probably does not include the word consciousness - can you link or reference?

First of all, nothing with mass can ever reach the speed of light (atleast, according to Einstein and current academic knowledge of physics.). You reach 'infinity' energy/mass to do so which is, obviously?, impossible.

As you approach it, however, time slows so theoretically its possible to travel forward in time.
Bringing that information back?
Eh...
You would have to surpass the speed of light or worm hole it.
Regardless, whatever robot you encounter is the present day one, even if it came from the future.

If by "control the robot while at light speed" you mean using live commands, I don't see how that would work since you wouldn't be able to send signals to it while at traveled at light speed.  If you mean that you would control it via it's programming that it was given before it's light speed travels, then obviously it would've been programmed before it's flight and would be considered as being controlled by your past self (but that would be true of anything you programmed to do something).

Actually, maybe you could send signals to something traveling at or near lightspeed because of relativety.
If you turn on a flashlight travelling a fraction less than the speed of light, the light still moves at the speed of light relative to the operator whom is moving at near light-speed.
Maybe i am wrong as this is getting into very what if territories, but something moving near or at lightspeed should be able to signal something 'ahead' of it traveling at the same speed, using anything which moves at the speed of light, radio for instance.
Can we truly tell how fast we are moving? Only relative to what we know.

Perhaps information is key to everything, but we already know that.

By now, the future seems so predetermined...its astonishing physics says otherwise..but does it really?

I feel AI could accurately simulate probable futures within 20-30 years.

What does that mean for time travel?

Is it physical or mental?

The theory of relativity states that no matter how fast you are moving while holding a flashlight, the light coming out of it ahead of you is only and always moving at the speed of light.  You can't give light speed a boost or slow it down by moving while shining a light.
