When this happened to me I wrote a crime comedy book about a mafia hitman who ends up in witness protection in a small town on the Columbia River. It's sold a few thousand copies on Amazon but never made any money. I think I'm in the hole about 3 grand.

My advice would be to take the bullet. Same result but faster and hurts less.

High Fantasy. :pipesmoke:

How far along are you? I like fantasy. By High fantasy, do you mean like kings, swords, horses and magic?

I’ve got around 300 pages written, across 3+ books, still need to figure just how things fit together.
And yes, the term high fantasy refers to fantasy that takes place in an alternative universe than the one we live in now.

For me my writing is more of a mental exercise than anything else, me caring much more about creating and flushing out a rich world full of elaborate cultures, histories, traditions, stories, legends, and superstitions. I care more more about the world building, the map making, and how and why the people live and act rather than who the people are themselves. Because of this, for every page of narrative I have written, I have two pages of history’s written. And don’t get me started on the map, between the towns, cities, villages, trade routes, shipping currents, geographical climates, cultural and political boundaries I doubt I’ll ever have a final revision of the map completed. For me it’s about creating a great world inside I can choose to visit whenever the need or want arises. I write for myself and doubt I’ll ever actually allow anything to be published. I hardly even let my wife read what I write.

It’s written in the form of interconnected short stories. There are main characters that are revisited more often then others, but the narrative bounces from place to place, city to city, and person to person drawing deeply into the daily life of different areas and types of people but at the same time, when laid side by side, it’s shows the workings of a vast net of interconnected political and social plots working behind the scenes. For instance, one chapter could be about a barmaid working in a rural tavern fearing for her lover who has recently travels away to go fight in a war, while the patrons at the tavern could be regaling her of new happening in the surrounding area that might pertain to a previous chapter or perhaps on of the people in the bar was an adventurer we’ve as readers met in the past. Then the next could be about a her lover, so happy to be away from that broken down village and pestering woman, but also could be giving us a direct look into the combat first and, while a proceeding chapter could be about a woman nursing her husband back to health, who matches the description of someone the soldier fought in a previous chapter. Probably a bad example, but you get the idea.

As for a synopsis of the world. It takes place about 100 years after a full scale ā€œworld warā€ has ravished the southern continent ending in a very Shermanisk style total warfare, salted crops and burnt churches type of thing. After this a big centralized government has been but into place to prevent something like that ever happening again. In these 100 years religious and mortal powers have been at odds with another, both suppressing things like technology, reading, writing and the sort in an attempt to hold and keep power. But so caught up in this game of charades, the powers that be have ignored until recently a new power growing under their very nose, the merchants, many of whom have formed secret pacts, guilds, and societies dedicated to shaping society as they see fit, from spreading reading and writing to advancing new forms of technology for their own uses. Realizing too late the merchants are who the wealth of the world flows through, the old families and power structures do their best to bury the hatchet and stop fighting amongst themselves and focus their efforts on undermining the merchants. But as this game of control, power, and suppression is being played out, secret forces have manages to do the impossible, breath mana, the lifeblood of magic, back into the world. And with the advent of magic, all former ideas on order, power and control go out the window. Over night previous forms of combat and warfare prove unable to compete with powerful sorcerers popping up all across the globe, many of these wizard banding together united by their own illusions of grandeur. That’s the very BASIC premise of it all.

I will.but I probably wont end up doing it until I know I'm dying, if I get that chance. I could literally write a book on my schizophrenia and 3 psych wards on its own. They were so real yet so ridiculous but i still think what I experienced was real in a way. That's what makes it so nuts. It's like I had to give up EVERYTHING in order to go psycho but it was worth it because the world was my oyster at that time. The world came to me. It basically said "what do u want? Just ask" but it only worked if you asked for humble things. Such as understanding. Synchronicity. Excitement. Energy. Attention. And even shapeshifting.

It honestly feels like I've lived the life of 6 people in my short 28 years here. My cup runneth over.

But shit, Asante is probably double my age so I can't make assumptions he probably been through the ringer on an even higher level. I just don't know his life, only he does so I can't judge. It's not a competition or anything. I'm thankful for all I've been through but damn can't God just give me a damn rest? Now I own 2 condos worth half a million each which obviously is about a million dollars but the catch is I haven't paid income taxes in years so I now have my biggest battle in front of me...the IRS

And the reason I say my life was so fucked up was because I never met anyone else who has bought heroin and crack for their own parents many many times and have shotten up with them and even smoked crack with them many many times. Ive shotten my own mom up in her neck. My parents are scum for letting their kid have that relationship with them
Honestly, I shouldn't even be alive right now

I'm confused are u saying you didn't have much mental abuse in your life or that you did? Just curious.

And again I want to apologize for my other comments when I thought someone else was you. I would write a book about drugs and pharmacology. It would be non-fiction, focus mostly on science. However, it would include many personal anecdotes and views on the subject matter. I suppose in the latter sense, it would be slightly autobiographical. I'd include a lot of my impressions of pioneers in the field so I think it would have some unique perspectives.

We should all write books and combine it into 1 huge massive shroomery Bible. We should turn our experiences into mythological and those little stories like the prodigal son. I forget what they call those stories off the top of my head. A shroomery Bible. I say we go for it
Even if it takes 5 years to write.

My answer would be some sort of mixture of stuff I have learned about psych regarding my experiences with myself and others.

I've thought about something like this many times, but while it would ultimately be most rewarding, I think it's be too much stress under this scenario, since i'd be hypercritical of the structure and execution being just right. On the other hand, im certain i could get some pure fiction drafted without too much hassle, and then just focus on refining it.

This is kind of a true story.

My story would follow a bigoted American soldier in an invasion of Venezuela and a woman imprisoned in a dark and hopeless cell. She hears an American voice through the pipes telling her that he has a plan will get her out. She begins to feel hopeful again and they spend their time fantasizing about the lives they would live after escaping. Things becomes more chaotic for the soldier on the battlefield and at the same time, the situation for the woman worsens as well. She begins panicking about food and is trapped in an endless cycle of self-reflection and self-criticism. She tells the American that she doesn't know who she is anymore.

She begins going through her memories and finding pieces of herself, hopes, dreams, interests, hates etc. She begins carving them into the concrete walls. The soldier confronts more horrible things in the war and is emotionally-affected. The girl begins to crack. She carves complex patterns into the walls and tells the American that they're influencing reality. She cries night and day.

The girl eventually tells the American that she can't hold on. She asks him to remember her and hangs herself in the cell. The American is distraught through the pipes. Back on the battlefield, Maduro finally gives in and surrenders. The soldier walks around the empty and bombed out apartment buildings. He disregards the personal belongings until he walks into a dark blue room with the sun shining in. It seemed untouched by the war. The walls were covered in ornate structures made of trinkets, trash, drawings, pictures and writings. They perfectly matched what the prisoner carved into the walls. As he surveys this morbid monument, he could see it for what it was. She was afraid and screaming out in desperation. He goes through pictures of her smiling and happy (which are also of the prisoner) and he sees her as a person. He just sits on the edge of her bed and begins sobbing.

Then there will be one last page as a memorial to the tens of thousands of Venezuelans who have killed themselves since the start of the crisis.
