Indoor cultivation in warm climate - Any recommendations for a beginner?
    #26055458 -

Greetings,

I'm interested in growing edible mushrooms indoors. I live in a small appartment in a hot country (25C+/77F+), so I cannot spare a lot of space and anything that requires cold weather won't do.

Can anybody recommend a strain that is easy for a beginner and that can be grown indoors in a hot country? Moreover, would PF Tek work to grow edible mushrooms? I've had some experience with that technique in the past, but never managed to successfully grow edible mushrooms with it.

Any references, pointers or tips are welcome.

Get a warm weather strain. Yellow or gold is the same thing. Pink oyster, Aloha elma, Amycel 3015 are all good choices. Aloha Medicinals costs me $21 with shipping for a 2.5 LB bag. I put it in a master slant so I don't have to buy again. Then I expand the grain and grow from that. I can save you some money if you are interested in any of the above strains.

Thanks for the strain suggestions. What medium did you use to cultivate them in? Do you think they could be grown indoors easily?

I only grow indoors so yes they are easily grown indoors. I will give you two recipes for the substrate to spawn to. Soy hulls are way better if you can get them if not use the other recipe with bran. The water ratio will only get you close because all hardwood fuel pellets have a slightly different moisture content. Either way, take a small hand full of the sub and squeeze really hard. I like to have water pool around my fingers with no drips. At most I would allow for 1 drop.

This is for 1 bag...

Also for 1 bag...

The chicken manure can be left out but it does help. this is the chicken manure I use. Because it gives other benefits to your grow...

All of the ratios are in LBS except the water it is in liters because I use a flow meter to get the proper water content.
