Search Problems

I just tried to do a search and encountered the following issues.

1) When using the + feature, all results were returned (potent + strain). I'd give you a link but that leads to problem 2. I tried the + with and without surrounding spaces. I then tried potent - dog, which of course should have some hits and none were returned.

2) There is no search results url. When I've done a search in the past and want to link to the results I just copy and paste the resulting url. However, this time all I get is http://www.shroomery.org/forums/dosearch.php

3) One more I thought I'd add. I don't know if this is necessarily a problem or not, more of an observation. The search feature incorporates the text within UBB code as text to search for. This caused me some confusion for a while. I would search and get a result, but the result wouldn't have the search term in it. I finally figured out the search was including the code text, so a pictures download url might have the search term in it.

1. if you use the operators, NO SPACE between the operator and the word is to be used.

2. The url of the search results hasn?t been displaying for at least a year, there are certain reasons for it.

Did you try it? I just searched " search+problems" (without quotations) and got no results.

I tried it.
search+problems is obviously false
search + problems is false too

search +problems is correct and
+search +problems is correct too

A search for F+ or B+ returns no matches.

I imagine because it has an operator involved and no value following it.

Do you have any suggestions on how I might search for these terms?

This is likely due to the fact that we have restricted searches for items that are fewer than 3 characters, as not to boggle down the database while it attempts to find all instances of "OF" & "IT" & "TO" etc. within the specified date range.

I do believe that we can manually allow certain searches to proceed and those two should definitely be candidates so hopefully a technical administrator will come by soon to address this situation.  Thanks for the feedback Joshua :mushroom2:

This search problem is still present.

Vamp, Seuss, Anno and I are technical administrators. The reason 'B+' and 'F+' aren't returning any search results is because they fall under the 3 character limit for search terms. This limit is in place to ensure a high level of performance on our server so unfortunately we can't really lower it, at least not with our present hardware. Sorry for the inconvenience but I hope this answers your question.

You can use the google supported search to find at least a part of all the f+ containing posts:

I understand the problem.

I am hearing that there is no way to make an exception for specific 2 letter searches such as B+ or F+.
