So, Merc's request is valid, what we need is a search engine that actually works. Since every other aspect of the site's cgi works just fine, I believe the problem is the search engine itself, if there's actually a warm blooded person moderating and maintaining this site, please fix it.

The version of the bulletin board that's being used here on the Shroomery is 5.02. Version 5.10 is currently in beta, and should be released very shortly. This version contains NUMEROUS bug fixes, enhancements, and under-the-hood optimizations.

We'll be implimenting v5.10 as soon as the final version is released. This will fix the problem with the search engine as well as other miscellaneous bugs (such as the occasional weirdness people have been experiencing when they edit their posts). It should also be noticably faster.

The reason we can't just put up every new version of the BB which comes along is because the script we use is heavily modified to be compatible with the automatic trip reports submission. Whenever we upload a new version of the BB script, we have to go through the code and make a great deal of changes to get it to be compatible. Thus, we only update the BB when a major new version is released.
