I agree with that, but I seriously doubt that quote "is one of the most monumentally stupid things anyone occasionally says to me". Political opinions aren't the end all be all of life either. I fully admit my shortcomings and lack of knowledge. I don't claim to know it all. Opinions and facts can be different. Just because someone doesn't know geography or a lot of history doesn't make them unknowing of the ways of the world.

In the context I often hear it, it is pretty bad. It's usually when I bring up some historical fact and people say he they 'arent in school' or comment on how unimportant it is, that it has no basis in modern Life. Often they act like it hurts to learn even innocuous things. It's frustrating, and people that think like that have the right to vote.


Not knowing such basic things that effect everything absolutely makes one less knowledgeable in the ways of the world. You can hear it in opinions such as people that are against boreders because they are 'fake', or they think weed can kill you.

Knowing "the basic things that effect everything absolutely" is subjective to certain areas of the planet. There are plenty of benign innocuous things that are good to know, but not necessary to live life. It's attractive to others in the context of brains being attractive (which actually attract me to a person). Common sense to me is priceless, and a 4.5 GPA Harvard grad that doesn't have it, is less able to communicate/blend with the general public and the world (of course they would fare well with others in the same category). This statement would rely on education of at least an associates degree or more and studying things related to this or just an interest in the world in which we live etc... not everyone gives a shit unfortunately, I do, but there's only so much one person can do, so I do my part. Once again, opinions are just that, opinions, and they only hold the weight of the facts that corroborate them or make them false.

Thanks kinda how my name started.




My brother played CS with the name Tex@$$ & I stole it and shortened it to Tex- on Counter Strike then carried the name over to here in 10th grade.

Seriously thinking about Pumpjack

But my dads coat my brother gave me after he passed has Tex wrote on the tag. I think his PA friends called him Tex too.

I disagree with this.

As Trex says, common sense (and simply knowing humans) is the invaluable part. Knowing what's going on *waves hand* out there has little to do with common sense.

In fact, I'd argue that, often, people who know more about what goes on *waves hand* out there seem to have less by way of common sense than those that just know intimately how humans operate.
