You ever notice how those that seem to have less intimate/first hand knowledge of the wider world often have the strongest opinions on it?

It's tough to know how humans oportate when you don't know about how we got to where we are, or find such knowledge a burden

I never heard anyone call that kinda knowledge a burden before.

Does that mean that people who take the religious meme as to how we got here (vs. evolution) know less about how humans operate?

I do not think that is entirely true. Some people are very intuitive and very good at reading people and knowing the ways of the world by just being intelligent enough to garner knowledge through the limitation of their surroundings/upbringing/schooling/social interactions no matter how limited or small they may be, or how unlimited and large.

I'd say they do know less,if they aren't self aware enough to see why they would be drawn to religion and take it on in a factual way when other things are more intuitive when you look into them, that things change over time, the fosels. the easy to see line from primitive life to life like ours with eyes and more developed nervous systems.
In a way their way of thinking is very childish just by defenition

I was more talking geopolotics and history.

I just don't buy it. People can do more with less intellectual resources. But that doesn't make up for lacking such resources. It's always better, in my mind, to have more perspective and points of reference

I bet there's some elders in the few remaining tribes in the world that have had little to no contact with the world at large that are infinitely more knowledgeable and wise as to the ways of men than all of us here.

I feel the argument 'you need to know what's going on in the world' is frequently just an excuse by people addicted to news to justify their addiction.

Is this what you are referring to?

'Those who do not learn history are doomed to repeat it.'

The quote is most likely due to writer and philosopher George Santayana, and in its original form it read, "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it."

Santayana was known for aphorisms, and for being a professor in philosophy at Harvard which he abandoned. Prior to that, Santayana attended Boston Latin School and Harvard College, where he studied under the philosophers William James and Josiah Royce.

According to Santayana's philosophy, history repeats. The phrasing itself certainly is catchy. It's a big one, not only because it is so common, but also because if it is true and if history, driven by human nature, is ugly (hint: it is), then this saying ought to guide our public and private policy.

The sentiment that history repeats aspires to common sense and is hard to disagree with. In the history of the United States and Europe, wars have ended with confiscatory terms of government surrender inevitably breeding more wars. Revolutions, like those in France and Russia, that gave an individual absolute power—Napoleon and Stalin, respectively—inevitably end up as failed empires brutal dictatorships. Even individuals are subject to this advice. Couples who do not learn from their fights break up. People who don’t learn from their mistakes don’t mature.

I can certainly agree with the point being made, but to make a generalization that EVERYONE is ignorant and dumb because of not knowing certain history lessons is absolutely ludicrous!

I'm not trying to sell anything, lol! I do agree that knowledge is infinite and the more one knows the better, but that is also subjective and varies within certain parts of the world and people.

Only hope can give rise to the emotion we call despair. But it is nearly impossible for a man to try to live without hope, so I guess that leaves Man no choice but to walk around with despair as his companion.
