Habitat:
Found growing in beech forest next to creek. Fairly dark environment. Were growing out of beech litter (leaves etc) in the Motueka area of the South Island of New Zealand.

Gills:
Light grey/purple, not attached to the stem.

Stem:
60mm long, 8mm diameter, purple white, smooth, solid, light brown frill 2/3 up stem.

Cap:
40mm Diameter, brow/gold color with dark rim, sticky texture, conical.

Spore print color:
Brown

Bruising:
Purple grey

I have had a good look around on-line but have not been able to find anything that looks this purple underneath. Any help would be great.

Compare to cortinarus. They are not magic either way and shouldn't be consumed. Wait for a TI

It is a Cortinarius species. The purple colors are not from bruising, but are inherent in the mushroom.

This genus contains some of the most toxic species known so far, so it is not to be consumed.

I agree 100% with :whathesaid:

Edit: the one thing that I would like to have seen included in this request is an in situ photo, they can be very helpful in aiding in the identification of your observations.
