When asking for advice, make sure you understand the concepts you're asking about. Use correct terminology.there is a huge difference between sterilized and sanitized as a cultivator you should understand the difference

Pour more plates than you think you'll need and wrap them well. They last a lot longer than people used to say. I have a control plate laying around that's nearly a year old now and is doing just fine. This does depend on how thick they are poured though. super thin plates will dry out faster.

Grain Storage:
50# of millet sized seed fits into (2) 5 gallon buckets.  Oats will require two 6 gallon pickle buckets per 50#.

Get some used pickle or what ever buckets from your local restaurant or food service related place.
They are designed to keep bugs and moisture out.  They are often happy to give them up.

It's really easy to accidentally neglect something when it's all in your head and nothing is written down.. especially when you're juggling with half a dozen or more varieties.

Painters coveralls are cheap and are an excellent choice for anything where 'tyvek' is needed. A whole suit can be cut up to accommodate hundreds of jars,

Check your culture library/cold storage, every few months. I also think storing plates in the fridge UPSIDE DOWN is the way to go!

Use food coloring to make your agar plates a different color for each variety/strain/culture you work with.

If you use red food coloring be careful not to use too much. I can't be certain about every brand but I know some are colored with poison that myc doesn't like. It took me a minute to figure out what was going on but now I know.

Have everything ready before you need it. I always have agar in the fridge and at least 20 plates ready. Casing and subs (mixed without water). And of course,
supplies. Keep an inventory list of all the consumables you use and regularly check it, so you can buy more before you run out.

Im still kind of new, I but dont ask questions often. One can manage to find all the info needed to dig deep into how to mushrooms
The people here made sure of that :laugh:
Also because a lot of other people likely asked the same thing before

Wouldn't it make sense to have some kind of verification/ranking to look for the best tips in this thread, or at least verify whats true?

If your spawn is cleanly and fully colonized and your substrate is properly pasteurized: it is almost impossible to get a contamination before your first flush.
