Calcium Chloride, any dessicating properties?

I dont know why, but I feel like someone told me that Damp Rid is just calcium chloride. I dont think this is the case, but it couldnt hurt to ask. Does calcium chloride function as a dessicant?

Yes. DampRid and all those other desiccants are just Calcium Chloride. So is most driveway salt.

but a lot of calcium chloride driveway de-icers are not the same stuff as dessicants....trust me, look into it.


I have some 99% calcium chloride for drying.. good stuff.
