I hope you dont always take tastes of unidentified mushrooms and if you do i hope you spit them out immediately even a piece of some poisonous species can be quite dangerous. You might get poisoned or get a chemical burn. Even the handling of certain species can absorb toxins. Not trying to be mean just some helpful advice but i agree i think you have a pan foe and some other pans mixed in. Wait on a trusted identifier to be safe. Happy hunting!

I see some discoloration on a few them if you look closely, plus op said they were brown a few hours after but turned black after 24 hours.

It’ just the standard photo editing software on my iPhone. BTW black sharpie ink isn’t really black, but is really dark purple. I discovered this when I accidentally spilt some rubbing alcohol on a page with a black sharpie mark on it.

Why would that happen?  I always took spore prints of Foes for scientific purposes and they never changed colors.  I had a whole sheet of paper that I printed them on.  I printed one cinct. On it to compare.  It stood out like a sore thumb.

I couldn’t tell you exactly why besides to the human eye cincts have jet black spore prints foes do not and I saw areas that clearly weren’t totally black, the areas that appear brown with duggstar’s editing were the areas I saw before that were slightly discolored. Yeah what you’re saying makes sense a cinct print compared to a foe would definitely have some fairly obvious differences.

I mean you can see it without editing the photo at all, it’s a little blurry but I zoomed in on a few. Definitely a bit of obvious discoloration while cincts should be totally black

This is not true, tasting is a valid approach to identifying mushrooms. You’re supposed to only taste a small bit and then spit it out. Even if you did accidentally swallow a tiny bit of even a deadly poisonous mushroom, it won’t do much harm. There are no mushrooms that are poisonous to touch, and they won’t give you a chemical burn.

Oh im sorry i did not mean to spread misinformation! I read a few times that death caps, destroying angels etc shouldnt be handled cause the toxins can get into your pores. I read one time someone had a alergic reaction to one he was tasting causing chemical burns. I just always was on the precautionary side since then good to know i wasnt doing anything dumb when i was hunting and tasting mushrooms thanks duggstar!
