Alright... looks like I finaly found something worth trying to get an ID on. Woohoo!
I was out in the backyard just walking around and I saw a huge mushroom growing out of our pile of grass clippings. I went over to look at this mushroom, then I saw about 50 small mushrooms that looked like Panaeolus or Copelandias of some kind. I live in Georgia, it's been raining a lot lately. All of these mushrooms had brown or black colored gills, we'll see what color spores they have as soon as the prints are done. No bluing yet. The mushrooms that look like Pann subbs have very fragile caps... could be because of the damned bugs =\
I picked all the mushrooms worth picking and here are my pics.
Thats all of them
These are the caps of the ones I'm doing a spore print on.
Same as above, different lighting.
Thanx for any ID help you may have.
Peace out,
-GumbyDude

No blueing? Oddly enough, I found similar blacked spore shrooms growing out of newly planted ST. Augustine sod. And I live in Miami, Florida. They look like a cross between a Psythrella gracilis and a Pan. foenisecii. When they dry whiteish, they look like Pan. castaneifolius. A few of mine actually looked like they had bluing at the very base of the stem and attachment to the mycelial mat. I printed mine to. Jet black spores. Only time I ever seen them down here. The sod was imported from somewhere else.
I posted a pick of two growing outside my apartment, at the forest floor.
Lots of similar looking blackspore mushrooms!!! But no blueing!!

Ah.. werd. Thanx Mitch.
I think I am going to wait untill next time it rains, then pick more. I'm not too sure about eating these guys, they had all kinds of beetles on them when they were found :\ Guess I got there too late.
Peace out,

Hey GumbyDude
Tough call here. Stay safe and wait until next time it rains.
Your finding some subbs, its just hard for me to say that they are all positively subbs, from the pictures. You would need to consume at least 2 dozen specimens fresh or twice as many that dry to experience a worthwhile trip anyways,
I was up in georgia yesterday picking subbs in a horse pasture and have also come across 2 singular specimens growing down here in florida off of cow shit.
I can however give you positive identification on the baby sweet gum tree in your Habitat photo.. mushrooms like to grow under those..

Actually at a second glance those all do appear to be Pan subb. I would still recommend not saving any of them and go looking in the same area a second time after rain, for a new batch. You should be able to i.d. them for sure on your next visit to the field.

Hey everyone. I checked the same spot today, found 6 new, fresh mushrooms. I also did some spore prints last night, they came out jet black. I looked at the dried out mushrooms from yesterday.. the mycelium mat on the big cluster was slightly blue... looks like I have something worth while growing in the back yard :)
I'll keep checking the spot daily, and keep picking untill I have a decent number of shrooms. Next time we have some rain I bet there will be a bunch of mushrooms. The weather people keep saying its going to rain.. hasn't happened yet =\
Heres the new pics:
Thanx for the help everyone,

Yep, thems for sure Panaeolus subbalteaus, no doubt about it. The pic before the spore prints shows some picture perfect caps, with the white outer ring and all. Some very healthy specimens I might add! I coming to pick with you now, haha! We should meet up and atleast pick some subbs, I have a nice horse pasture in a safe spot with safe access, and its a daytime field, I'd love to take you to it. Me and GGreatOne found a decent amount a few days ago, a nice dose anyways, probably 40-50 small to medium fresh mushrooms. Nothing like the ones above though.
Good find, nice pics :) Keep em coming, and keep searching for weilii. Maybe I'll show you a few this year, who knows ;)

I'm searching for the weilii like a mad man :P I live in the "perfect" neighborhood for them, about 6 years old and has a lot of burried debris. I found a small mushroom that looked like them, brown cap, thick white stem. It was only an 3/4 of an inch tall, so I decided I'd let it grow a little before checking its bluing ability and getting a pic. I went back there 10 minutes ago... gone. A squirrel or deer must have eaten it.
I had no idea what Sweetgum trees looked like, then GG identified one in the pic. Now that I know what they look like, I've discovered that we have about 5-7 Sweetgums in our yard. No weilii's thou. Maybe the spores just aren't there. I've been looking around the Suwanee/Buford/Sugar Hill area with no luck. I'm not that worried about it right now.. at least I've got some Pann. subs :)
Well, I'm off to do some reading and talk in #shroomery for a bit.
Peace Out,

Me again. It rained today so I should be seeing a lot more pan subs, but I prolly won't post anymore pics unless someone wants me to.
I went out to get a pic of the pans in their natural habitat... pics didnt turn out so great. I took the pic had and made some artwork. The 800x600 version looks much better ;)
Enjoy
Peace out,
