pan subs abundant AND MASSIVE (pics)
    #1643618 - 06/19/03 02:50 AM (21 years, 9 months ago)

im moving now so i diddnt have my digi cam with me, youll have to settle for scans, the really nice ones that are almost as big around as my finger were picked on dung/soil compost, the more raggety ones were just below the surface under woodchips growing from dung/straw compost, one was peaking out and it gave away the rest.

they were all growing in dence clusters and all were picked within 20 ft of eachother. i onle had 10 minurtes to check.

the scans really dont do justice to the massiveness of these bigguns.
they all showed respectable amounts of bluing and were mighty mighty big, ive eaten from this patch before so i also know they are as potent by weight as cubensis, i really got off on these and ive eaten ALOT of mushrooms.
oh, and BTW workman, i got some spores from that mystery mushroom.  ill see if i can send you some after i move.

ohyeah, and lately im trading all the shrooms i pick for marijuana, and i get some kick ass turnaround from some co workers. now that i have a wicked vaporizer i can smoke small amounts of pot and get just as stoned for a longer period of time. and ive got alot of free time ahead so im stocking up.
i like shrooms and beleive me i want to eat these serious badboys. but im too buisy now to be tripping and id rather someone else enjoy them while they are potent and fresh.
plus im pretty sure there will be more, theres more rain in the upcomming week and round here i find they dont start to fizzle out till late july, then they come back in early sept.
then around october im picking these AND mad liberty caps till mid-november. ive even picked them in mid december one year

this is my vaporizer
instead of BURNING weed it cooks it at a high temp on a copper element, it takes a while to heart up, but once going it burns pot efficiently, turning the THC into vapor, the vapor condences in your lungs and is absorbed without the harmful carbon combustion particles, carcinogens, creasol and tar you get from smoking joints.
the high is longer as its more like eating pot than smoking it, also it doesnt hurt your lungs.
my favorite thing is to load it up with a whole gram and pass it around, it burns for almost an hour.
each toke is as good as toking a joint, but you THINK its not working because theres no coughing and gaging. then youre high, then higher

WOW...a gram for an hour? So this thing, for all intensive purposes, will extend the bud burning time to so you get more than you would from lighting it up?

Sorry that we're getting so off topic from your shrooms but... What is the end product after the marijuana is spent? Is it ash or what?

you and your weekly doses. youre going to burn out your brain dude. eventually you dont trip, its more like drinking way too much coffee and feeling damaged in the brain. space them out a bit, like 2-3 weeks minimum. mushrooms arent intended as a cheap substitute for pot, prolonged heavy usage will rewire your brain, then youll be known as that crazy guy who ate too much mushrooms all the time in high school. or they might call you, gulp, MushroomNiggy

those in your hand in the right pick are probably the largest subbs i've ever seen.

ps. i don't smoke anymore, but vaporizers can't be beat.

heres a closeup of the base, i used a magenta background to contrast the cyan, then i applied the image and used auto levels. now its very easy top see the strong bluing reaction visable in the white mycelium of this mushroom, the stipe is too reddish to let this contrasted color show as anything more than graeish

yeah, digital color enhancement filters really help to illustrate bruising reactions. nice pics Michnast.

it was easy enough to see in daylight, its just hard to get the blue to scan.  actually you can see bluing all up the stem but it really just looks like its darker because the blue against the red looks like dull violet brown.
ive found them before completely lacking pigment, completely white, and they showed bluing all over.
for the pile you see here im asking 2 grams of some good buds. i dont see any reason why i couldn't get 3
thats enough pot to last me 2 months getting high evry other night with my vaporizer.

I'm going to contribute to this offtopicness a little bit.

I personaly can't stand pot, but a friend of mine has an aromazap vaporizor and he is always ranting and raving about how bud lasts so much longer and how you only have to use a tiny piece to get you stoned.

As far as final product goes once you've smoked the bud... he said that the bud looks "toasted"(whatever that means). But its not ash.

You should check them out, everyone I've talked to loves them.

No offense or anything mitchnast...but I have picked larger subbs than the ones pictured. I will try to dig up some old pics, I have some that reach from the tip of my middle finger to the beginning of my wrist. I picked some humungous fruits last year!! What do you think of the subb trip? Have you eaten any fresh ones yet?  That is a good find man, they look potent! I've never seen blueing on subbs like that before!! Have fun!!!!

p.s - Have a fresh trip!

yeah, ive picked them that long too, the point here is girth, the stipes are as big as my finger, one of these mushrooms happens to be almost as long as my hand, ive picked them longer than that, but they werent as fat as these ones. these are the fattest ones ive ever picked and therefore the most "massive"
i COULD have let them grow a few more days, they would have gotten taller. they hadnt even opened to a flat cap yet, and they usually do.

ive eaten subbs before, but then ive eaten a few types of pans, not just subbs, in fact, good identifiable subbs arent very common. most harvests result in a mixed pick of castenifolius, (common on comost) microsporus (very common on new manured lawns)
oliviaceus (rare but abundant when found) and papillonaceus (very scarce but not as hard to diferenciate from sphinctrinus as literature would lead)
subbaltaetus can fruit very heavily, potency varies from location to lac. and age, substrate, and time of year also seems to be a factor, midsummer is the hump, before this, they are the most potent and most abundant, they are then scarce until cooler wetter weather, then inexplicable, with little prompting from rain, you stumble upon massive patches in sept-oct, they seem much less potent then spring mushrooms tho, this is all mearly observation and not nesisarily constant.
as for the high, well, its good, but as with any trip substace, setting and ,mood is key dosage is secondary.
ive eaten whole cup of dried chopped pans for some fucked up "i dont know what the fuck anything are" results
but then the severeness of the mental penetration will always take a backseat to my beloved liberty cap. which in my opinion is the finest, most visual, reality-bending trickster ive ever come accross.

however i recall one time i ended up in shroom court from eating to many pans, it was like i was in a colleseum where all the mushrooms id eaten were present, not visable, but tengeble,, evrywhere, just watching me, not judging, but severely competing with me for local significance in the space i call self, not really menacing, but rather twisted, like having infinate emotionless faces in your feild of vision at all times all identical, with patterns and symmetries, and they just stare at you sans-emotium in sync, blinking like a tidal wave of rushing worms in a rotting godshead.
just watching, withought eyes. in the same manner that i see them. in the same manner that i know my dreams.

but then, when in the right setting i can sit very still and become the landscape, one with all, my bent knees the mountains, my breath the sky, my hands the rolling countryside, and then the people, formed solely from my love and need to exist. i come down to join them, and i forget, and whatever happens to me during those trips i dont know, because i never get up, i just sort of continue on. like now for example, im walking about upon myself as the universe right now, thats the way i see/remember it.
like i never came down, i had to re-make it.
in some sence i feel for those times that i DO come down before renaissance, something is worn out, like how a pheonix in immortal and burns up to be born again from its own ashes. its how the world works, and what ive come to see.
and yes, i absolutely beleive in god, and it is because of these journeys that ive cultivated an understanding, a faith perhaps, but lacking the blindness. it wasnt easy to embrace, its so difficult to be, yet its equally hard to not be, and ive learned most importantly that you cant just stand in one spot and let fate chose, because well, you chose anyway.

panaeolus, all varigated, a word i akin to a lesser ambrosia, a lesser ring, a subbaltaetus.

its always there in the world, locked in obscurity, and from certain substances normally avoided, with knowlage and desire it responds to the call.

thats what i think
