Late to the party, but damn what a good thread. Enkidu, Sabnock, MrCraggles...love reading your posts. I gotta
stop lurking in TPE and get more involved.

I pretty much wonder the same things as grati. To me shrooms are next level. My last trip was 5g cranberry tek
and while my eyes were open (they were bugging out of my head), "visuals" was the last thing I was concerned about.
I was going to different dimensions and dream worlds and at the peak I joined the God Mind and experienced
total connectedness to the universe and pure emotional/physical bliss.

LSD just doesn't do that for me

To me, LSD is somewhat predictable and I have more control over the experience. With mushrooms, I never know what's going to
happen. It ends up being so weird my brain refuses to remember how weird it was later on. And I have lasting
positive effects for a long time after.

This. I had this effect the first time I used LSD properly, and it lasted nearly two weeks. However I'm yet to replicate such a positive response and I tried and tried but my depression/anxiety just ended up coming back.

With psilocin it is guaranteed that I will have at least one week of positive lift on my mood. Everything just seems to slot into place. I feel like I know who I am, what my expectations are of myself, others and of life, I let things go more easily that bother me, I forgive myself more for mistakes I've made, I'm generally more positive and upbeat and I have way more energy.

I do not get this effect from LSD.

By building mushrooms into my life as a regular thing I maintain all of the lasting positive effects.

Mushrooms really are superior in every way. For me anyway. But the dose has to be high for the biggest benefits.

PS. Thanks for the little recognition there.

That wouldn't be comparing them in relative ways though. I said it was better, not stronger. We all know that dose wise LSD is stronger.

But when you compare them in a relative way I get way more out of psilocin. When it gets to 600ug+ of LSD it just isn't too great and still doesn't have the depth or richness of psilocin, visually or mentally. I'm fairly sure that if I increase the dose of LSD much further I'll just black out and I don't see the point. I got so little out of anything past 600ug.

So the highest I can go with LSD has nothing on the highest I can go with psilocin in terms of the entire psychedelic experience. The high doses of psilocin I take are just beyond beautiful and take me to places LSD is just not capable of.

A lot of this probably gets into individual differences. I started off with mushrooms and I've done more DMT than anything else. Reading this board, and being a fan of Terence McKenna gave me a bias against LSD which I didn't try until a year or two later. Then a deadhead gave me a 10 strip of LSD to try out. I took only one tab and the message I got was "DMT pfft, I'm LSD bitch!" They're definitely different, but I've come to talk no shit about any of the classic psychedelics.

I'm more likely to black out and lose time on LSD and DMT than mushrooms, but I usually feel incredible afterwards, so I assume something profound is going on in the time I can't remember. I wouldn't say LSD is better, but definitely not worse IME.

Psilocin is totally better than LSD. I trip harder and go much further. Visually mushrooms are more stunning for both open eye and closed eye visuals. The headspace and feelings of pure joy and life affirmation are much, much more pronounced on mushrooms. The feelings of resolving ones issues are more pronounced on mushrooms. The colours are more rich on mushrooms.

Without a doubt for me mushrooms are the best psychedelic I've had. And I've had high doses of both. I do not come away from LSD feeling entirely satisfied. It doesn't feel like a full experience.

This. The only part I don't like is when everything turns dark and creepy for no reason  but I'm used to that

I think I'll eat some shrooms tomorrow :solidnod:

You're probably not dosing high enough if you're getting 'dark and creepy'. The only time I get anything like that is on lower doses. Increase the dose to 7-8 grams and it's pure blissful joy...no darkness or foreboding. Just infinite joy.

Well, when I said that I didn't mean the high doses. Just the regular ones. You can't dose high every time you take shrooms. At least I can't. I take high doses like 2,3 times per year.

Never dosed shrooms at a festival. I take MDMA, acid or I candyflip. It depends. Shrooms are unpredictable for a psytrance festival, imo.

I agree about the festivals. I like lsd. Maybe I'll try mushrooms again but I tried a small dose at a festival and it was bad but right after my heaviest and most difficult mushroom trip ever. Brought back those feelings and thoughts. So maybe now it would be a bit different. I know some people like it.

Usually if I dose mushrooms it's 3g+ otherwise I take lsd

Mushrooms for me I usually am going for a decently powerful experience, if it's a recreational time I guess I just opt for lsd

Thanks Asura, I love you

I gauge it more by time. If a festival is a few hours I'll go with 2-3 grams shrooms and maybe add a gram later if I want to make it last longer. If I know it's going to be an all nighter I'll do LSD. If it's an artist I know I'll want to remember I'll lean more towards shrooms, as with LSD I just remember it being great and overwhelming but few particulars. If it's two or more days then I'll think about working in MDMA but I try to do the latter sparingly as I don't want it to lose its magic. I still haven't given candy flipping a good test

Sab, ever wonder why people place the visuals front and center?

I mean you talk about gaining knowledge, but you never seem to express this wisdom. Can you give us an example of what you mean?

I find it hard to describe the trips and the visuals are the easiest thing to put into words.

But the vision are only a cog in the machinery. You have other senses to interpret as well.

Vision quests are not just about the visible things in front of your orbitals.

It's pretty difficult to put into words since it's experiential knowledge. But others have said things better than i ever can so the answers are out there, but it's better to get the answers from within, imo.

I understand that the visuals are perhaps the easiest thing to describe, but i'd say my thing is more Human psychology, learning about the hardware at the core of who/what we are and all that comes with that. I'm more interested in trying to figure out/learn more about the Human brain/mind and body. We do indeed have other senses to interpret, i guess i'm just not much of a visual person, idk. As far as the wisdom goes, it comes with experience, it's like maturity mixed with understanding and self-knowledge and so much more, there's so much to this Entheogenic stuff that imo people need/deserve to know and learn/understand, if they did the world would definitely imo be a better place.

175ug of LSD was much more visually intense than 3.5g of mushrooms for me.

It all depends on set and setting, and it's subjective but if I had to give a chart on my personal experience

LSD in general is stronger based on simply it's potency and duration it's hard to say though comparing the 2, they are two different beasts

I've never had reality morph like it has on LSD, birds turning into alien technology and drones and shit

Agreed. Someone that paints for a living will look at an oil painting way different than a mechanical engineer. It only depends on your perspective.

Now, can you relate some of what you have learned about the human body/mind from tripping? The concepts of love, hate and everything in between become clear to me as I get older. That sort of knowledge?
I'm looking for something concrete, if you are unable, I understand. It's not something language based.

Well, as Terence McKenna said, "there is a transcendental dimension beyond language... it's just hard as hell to talk about" lol.

I myself am still trying to put everything into perspective, i one day would like to gather up my thoughts enough to be able to lay it all out in a book/manual of some kind though. There's just so much to it all though, one aspect is stepping outside of cultural programming/conditioning to return to a more original state of being/consciousness/perception that returns us to our more original Human selves, when the ego is reduced and the filters of the mind have been reduced/dissolved, a lot more information and understanding is able to come up to the conscious mind for experiencing. And with that, you see through the illusions, you realize what's truly important, and how lost and misguided Humans have gotten, and you realize all the potential our species has but it's being wasted away on this bullshit we've got going on and that's been going on for a good long while.

And, a lot of the things you learn is unconscious/subconscious, which while on Psychedelics comes up to the conscious mind but after awhile when you're back in your more day to day state most of it goes back to the unconscious/subconscious, it's still there, just very hard to bring it up to the conscious mind usually. Thing is though, it's not like what you learn/experience is coming from "out there", at least ime, it's all within, and some of it is more of a learning, but a lot of it is more of a remembering, like deep down we all know this shit, but consciously we're so far away from it.

It's like there's this ancient inner realm we can tap into and get so much out of it, there's also applications for like ESP (particularly precognition, seeing into the future, ime). I've also realized some of the more esoteric aspects, which feel like some sort of Illuminati or Freemasonry kinda thing, like some sort of initiatory rite of passage into higher knowledge/understanding/wisdom. It's a tool, it has many uses imo/ime, just depends on where you wanna go with it i guess. They ain't kiddin' when they say that Psychedelics are revolutionary for mental health and being able to more fully understand consciousness and the mind. Entheogens have some very serious potential, but a lot of people out there don't seem to realize that potential, at least i don't think, maybe most people do, idk, i just know that if more people understood this kinda stuff, we could totally change up this planet for the better, if only we Humans could actually get our shit together lol.

As Rick Doblin said "Psychedelics are not a substitute for faith. They are a door to authentic faith, born of encountering directly the sacred dimension of everyday experience. This is not the only gate to that discovery, but it is the most ancient and universal, and potentially the most accessible to the majority of the Human race."

I would argue with Doblin there. If you really are experiencing, then you don't need faith.

True, but the faith comes in knowing that it's real, and so say you one day leave the Entheogens behind (god forbid, lol), you slowly start to come back into "egoic consciousness" and a lot of what you've experienced becomes like a distant memory and it can be easy to forget what all you've been through, even though it's impacted your life in perhaps the most serious of ways, and so the faith is in knowing what you went through was real even if the memory of it isn't anywhere nearly as rich and obvious as the actual direct experience itself was, so it's through that "faith" that we maintain that connection to something larger than ourselves, to a higher power/knowledge/wisdom.

Personally i go more with Dennis McKenna's line of, with Psychedelics you don't need faith, you can say "i know that this is real, because i've experienced it". And it's much much better to know, if you can, than to have blind faith, which isn't to be confused with Doblin's "authentic faith", faith in the knowing and the understanding and the direct experience.

Alright, I can understand what you're saying. Let me try to flesh it out just a little bit.

Before I took psychedelics I was very anxious. I was anxious about social situations. I was worried about what others thought about me, so much so that when I walked in public I would become hyper aware of how I was walking. Any subtle deviation from my concept of normal walking would bring me near panic.
Now, I understood that I also judge people. I also knew it had no real barring on them. But then I would clam up if I felt judged even if in reality it had no effect on me. I was doing this to my self.
During a psilocybin trip I was sitting at the local pizza place and my friend asked me to roll a joint and we'd go for a walk. Well, normally this would have filled me up with pure anxiety but at that moment, it clicked.
I judge others all the time. I knew this.
People judge me. I knew this too.
They should not care about my judgement.
I should also not care about theirs.

All this I knew but I had never put it together in such a way. It was absolutely liberating. The experience was literally lining up the knowledge from within and putting it in a billion ways until I saw and understood.
So, why do I care so much about being judged if I do the same? I had no answer. So I let those feeling go. I was being an idiot.
I agree we must push the reset button from time to time. It brings us back to a stable state where society cannot pull or play with you.

I've had several trips where I saw a portal. Where all art, all concepts exist.  I have yet to step through it.

I heard, "Only humans may pass back and forth with out harm."
It was clear to me that I was not a healthy human being at the time, so I did not step through. This is the place I want to enter. My trips now revolve around stepping through to the other side. What is it? I don't know. Is it real? I don't know. Will anything profound happen? I don't know. Can I recreate it? I don't know. What I do know is that the true alien lies behind a measured amount of psychedelics. Is that true? I honestly don't know. Bizarre, this life is.

Anyway, might you be talking about these sorts of realizations?

As far as faith is concerned, it's useless. And I don't think you can achieve authentic faith with out loosing the faith. Faith is required when there is no evidence.

When it comes to psychedelics, only one person can ever experience the trip so there for do we have proof that validates the psychedelic experience? No. Faith would be required.

Sab, I think you misunderstand faith. You would not require faith in memories if you actually have those memories. They are there, true or not.
Faith is required when there is no proof. Walking across a street with out looking is faith. You can have faith that you'll make it across but it purely an assumption. Once you look both ways and process the information, then you make an educated guess as to the safety, based on proof.

Lol can you explain authentic faith to those of us who know nothing of what you speak.
