I'm making fucking hotdogs for a living all of a sudden * 8

Was an iron/steel worker until the economy tanked once again, work dried up around here... And so now here I am, selling fucking hotdogs at min wage at the local shithole bar to pay the bills.

I have a whole new respect for people who have been doing this for awhile... Fuck it sucks, seriously.

At least it's not fast food I guess lol... That and I prolly won't fall 90+ feet
to my death or anything :shrug:

But shit.. Fuck this.

I also have to deal with customers who are loser fucking drunk... Then clean up the bathrooms full of shit and vomit, great fun!

Again, a shout out to the people who know this way of life, I get it now... You deserve way more respect than what you typically get.

Take drugs. The only way to survive that kind of work in my experience is to be a little bit high all the time. Disassociation is your friend.

Find what you're good at and make a business out of it.  Thats what I did.  Its easier said than done I understand.  But it depends on how bad you want whatever change you're looking for.  Or take drugs and limp thru life.

The way the future is gonna work is people will need 2-3 jobs that they cycle through.

The sad fact is America will NEVER return to when we were the top manufacturers in the world again, the only reason we were is cause we an the other powers  bombed the shit outa all the other factories on the planet.
We cant out manufacturer a hive like society anyways were workers will work for alot less than Americans.
Americans need to get cheaper better educations if theyre going to compete for gainful employment like a doctor might have to do electronic repair on manufacturing robots a few months out of the year or out of the day.

Eventually money will be phased out an people will work for higher purposes once life becomes so easy an cheap through advancement in tech, med, society structure, law after the later generations get tired of the free party life style of the cheap, clean, automated world of the future if we dont get ourselves killed by ourself.

The thing about a shit job it cant be your only job an you cant get stuck in it.
No shame in it when the alternative is stealing or going broke.

I think a big problem for so many people is the they just aren't exposed to so many jobs and careers, and live life distanced from and 100% unaware of how much decent employment is abound for the taking. There is just no way that a hot dog stand was the only / best option, It's physically impossible

Iron steel worker is compatible with 1,000,000's of higher paying jobs, lots of jobs that pay pretty damn high

I live in butfuck nowhere Alberta and don't drive... The opportunities aren't exactly ripe out here.

Have you considered just leaving the workforce completely and living off grid?
It sounds like you're absolutely miserable every day revolving your life around a job you hate.  man...
For around $4-5k you could buy a decent parcel of land out there, as well as an older camper for a temporary home. It's something that has to be entrepreneurial of course. But when faced with nature as your only source of income, humans have an incredible ability to adapt. Not only feed themselves, but make money using the land.

i.e. Make the trek to near Banff since you're in Alberta, forage and sell gourmet mushrooms for a living. It's great money, and with bills only being propane and water in a camper, you can eventually save up to buy or build a home on your own land.

I say all this because I've seen friends successfully move to this lifestyle from 9-5 and restaurant jobs. It's just a matter of it being something that you really want to do with your life.

That's my dream, except I'm saving for at least the silver package, maybe the gold if I get enough pay raises this year, instead of the bronze package that you laid out, or the fools gold package which is most risky, but also most badass if successful

Right on! I very much believe that if I hadn't found my little nook in the mountains of CO while driving around the country, I would've chosen somewhere around the Cascades in WA to live at instead.

Those forests up there are fucking magnificent.
