Contam?

Hey guys I have 2 things that look suspicious rn and was hoping for some other opinions. I have 1 jar popcorn inoculated with LC. Is that wet spot? (Jar is half shaken) jar was nocced with 20cc of LC definitely overkill. And the tub was a slow pinner I harvested what few pins were left through bods unmodified harvest tek which obviously watered it since then pins have seen popping up like crazy guess it was dry. The question is do you guys see any contam it doesnt smell funky would just like a more experienced persons input. This thing side pinned like crazy. Thanks in advance guys!!!

The jar is bacterial as fuck get away from popcorn and the LC should be made from ckean agar ... I use 5to7 cc per jar when I use lc your tub looks ok from the pic some metabolites but nothing serious... if you want a better opinion I'd take a picture with light on your surface to see better

Ok I’ll toss that one and this is literally the best I could do rn for lighting is it any better? I just now realized that I wasted a brick and a half of coir and 9 quarts from that funky looking myc that you saw it was rizomorphic so I gave it a go. But 9qts to a brick and a half in a 54 qt I’m now realizing how bad that is it’s like 6” thick so I think that’ll fail horribly but I was gonna toss the jars anyways. But on topic here’s that pic 😂.

6" sub isnt bad my subs are usually right around 5" ... there may be a little funk in there but your flush will finish ... looks like you have a wet surface I would increase fae

You're fine for this flush. I don't believe you'll be getting a second flush out of that though. Looks like shes gonna give up after she pops those out.

As in to your health?? Haha ... it's not going to hurt you if you eat the shrooms from something bacterial or even moldy unless you are allergic to something specific ... that tub may even push out another flush before it sees mold it's hard to say... I think it is doing well for the most part .. I am not trying to give you the heebeegeebees Haha just trying to give you the my personal opinion on it

Ya the tub got “dunked” and some water pooped on top during the harvest. Probably why it’s bruised. As long as it’s safe to consume probably won’t go for anything after this flush. And the brick and a half with 9qts will work!!!??!

Well like I said first real bulk with sterilizing my own grains. But you think that tub will work I just started?

Why wouldn't it? Mushrooms are pretty easy to grow. You give them humidity and nutrition and they grow themselves

They say a hydrated brick of coir is 8 qts so that would mean you used say 13 after verm and gypsum ... you're less then 1.2 ratio it should actually colonize real fast maybe harvest in 2 weeks depending on the culture

I’ve heard allot of people say on here to keep it around 3 inches. Is it common to go that big?

I do 1:1 / 1:2

Both work well for me. I dont stress is too much.  I just go with "if it looks right" (whatever that means).

Lol. As long as your grains are dispered evenely as best you can throughout the sub. You'll be okay.

Like he said. Probably a fast colonization period If temps are favorable.

Everyone does something different man. There are some rules to this game, but honestly trial and error is your best bet.

I've read a lot of good things on here and learned how to be sterile and procedures for what I'm doing now. But when it comes to YOUR sub, YOUR fruits.. you kinda just gotta dial in and test each batch with different variables to see which works best for YOU.

I wouldn't go deeper then 6" but in a 66qt tub I use 5.5 qts to say 12qts spawn give or take usually gives about 4 to 5 inches .. I think azur had a post of a 3" sub fruit and a 6" sub fruit same culture different size fruits ... you're good just give them the conditions they need

So here’s the other thing I had minimal Verm maybe 2 qts I dumped it all in after I measured out 5 cups. I haven’t used gypsum because I don’t know where to get it locally. Bod seems to have success with only coir and much better flushes than me lol. I have my first agar attempt going rn but it looks kinda slimy on the tissue sample though. Did that about 36 hours ago.

You want to take a clone sample from the inner part of the stem ... break it open with your finger flame the blade ...

Coir provides plenty enough nutrients for mycelium alone. You can get by with just coir. Adding other nutrients properly does help produce more yields.. but for what it's worth, coir will be completely fine.
