Cannabis edibles chefs please help - basic question about reading recipes

I'm going to make a magical tincture concentrate. My recipe calls for 2½ ounces/70 g high-quality cannabis, decarbed.

Is that 2.5 ounces before decarb or after decarb?  In other words, do I measure out 2.5 ounces and then decarb it and use the resulting material, or do I decarb my pot and then measure out 2.5 ounces AFTER decarb.

Obviously, there's a huge difference.

does the weight really change though? I would assume pre decarbed weight

Good question.  I thought it would weigh quite a bit less after heating for 30 minutes.  I guess I'll find out.

so according to this you will lost weight through moisture loss. 7g turned into 3.2g after decarb

Yes, I lost about half the weight, so that's pretty accurate.  Granted, I was using popcorn buds, sugar leaves, and other trim from a harvest I made in December, and I froze all of this soon after harvest without a lot of dry time, so it was fairly fresh weed. 

It was fun making gummies.  First time I ever did it. It was VERY hard not to taste test like I always usually do when cooking.  I made them for my wife who is currently fighting some pretty bad neurological issues.  I have no idea how strong they are because I haven't even been able to smoke any of it. And before getting sick, she had smoked pot twice in her entire life.  So she ate 2 gummies before getting in bed, fell asleep about an hour ago, and woke up a few minutes ago and said "whoaaaaaaa."  I guess that's good.
