Yep.

Good read.

I'm gonna have to read it for the novel study for my English class. Is it too trippy for a classfull of teenagers?

I read it twice about three years ago, I found it so good I had to read it again right after I finished the first time. It certianly gives you something to think about.

I have an audio tape of it with Huxley talking.

I think he predicted the anti-depressant craze.

Had to plow through it for an advanced reading class in Jr High. But I don't remember much of it. Found it to be tough reading at that age. I was probably too immature at the time. I guess I should read it again, I've just never got around to it.

BTW- I also read Catcher In The Rye that year. Now that I think about it I feel that the teacher was giving us stuff that was way too heavy for our age group (12-13) even though it was an advanced class. But I did read the Hobbit that year also and loved it. I finished the entire LOTR series by the time I was in High School.

If you like Brave New World, you'll love Island. Also have a read of Brave New World Revisited, which he wrote just before he died.

If you're interested in Aldous' life, then read this...

He was a wonderful, thoughtful man.

Great book,
Groundbreaking for it's time. And excellent study of social conditions and philosophy. Many people considered it both subversive and communist. Not unusual for it's time, though.
