Should I fruit?
    #25825760 -

I have pins!! Only a few and They are on the sides of my shoebox, but does this mean I should lower temps, increase FAE change, etc?

I have the shoebox inside a large fruiting chamber with holes and perlite a la Roger rabbit

Wait.. I'm confused. You have a shoebox in a tote with perlite? So you're fruiting a shoebox inside of like a mono?

Wut:closecall:

I got started erroneously following two different teks. But as it progressed, it made sense to me to continue doing it this way. I have a shoebox in a larger chamber, yes. I have a lid of the shoebox off right now but the humidity in the chamber remains high enough where I don’t have to mist.  It seems to be working great!  Some of the shoebox Teks  recommend using a garbage bag or an empty shoe box bottom as a lid when fruiting. I figured since I had the fruiting chamber already made that I would use this instead of a garbage bag.  I think the fruiting chamber keeps the humidity high enough but the holes in the chamber allow enough fresh air exchange  to hopefully make it work. We’ll see how it goes! Also I am a she.

People I’m learning every day. Started misting last night  because I was  concerned  with all my side pins  and lack of top pins. That plus crumpled up wax paper on top of the casing has produced pins in less than 12 hours. Definitely don’t skip the misting!

Wut.  No. Why? Throw the sgfc in the trash and then shoot that with a shotgun.

I hate to be a dick or sound negative, but if your a newbie, you should follow 1 tek. One thing I learned about growing is, if you dont follow instructions, then something bad or confusing happens, it means you are not ready for trying out new ideas. The tek is there for a reason and has the "ideas" you think about in there. You are having issues, because you didn't follow a tek. I know your following 2, but experimenting too soon before you understand the mechanics of growing, your setting yourself up for failure my dude

This is a forum, with a lack of emotions, everything you say can be misconstrued by someone at some point in time.

Side pins means the surface conditions are better on the side then directly on top.. they pin where the conditions are best for them. Evaporation of surface moisture is what causes pinning, its ok to let the surface dry out before misting as it encourages the pins to grow.. if you dial in your field capacity of the coco coir properly you shouldn't have to mist until just before the first flush. keeping it wet all the time will cause bacterial infections, etc. I'm going threw this right now as my shoe boxes are too wet and I'm afraid they will get infected before the 2nd or 3rd flush..

There is enough FAE with the lid snapped shut on most shoeboxes. leave the lids on till you see pins and then put a bag over top like on Bod's easy af shoe box tek... good luck!
