This is the same for all (alleged) paranormal fields including religion and New Age woo (acupuncture, homeopathy; etc. It amazes me how much people love to wallow in ignorance as if gullibility was something to be proud of.

I get where your coming from
but Galileo was right and the Church wrong
along with all the other superstitions science has freed us from

And the idea that one can have truth (as opposed to 'untruth') in regards to
that which is undifferentiated oneness and includes everything makes no sense

Qualifications and reflective titles represent absolutely nothing unless the knowledge which they supposedly represent is applied to the self and the world.

No person is better than the next.

Some people are more productive than others, and production is fundamental aspect which counts.

Participation in establishments are often for the sake of social status, or compulsion brought about by social or hereditary pressure to achieve status.

In the same regard, a house furnished with five thousand books is only a house furnished with five thousand books...

Everyone has the potential to make an impact in this very moment and the moments thereafter and that fact doesn't depend upon figurative, prestigious medals as a precursor...

Given the evidence available to Galileo, he was wrong to present the Heliocentric theory as truth, http://www.scientus.org/Copernicus-Stellar-Parallax.html. The church did not prohibit him discussing the theory, they rightly given the evidence available at that time prohibitted presenting it as truth.

yeah science is fucking dank, I am certainly not certified in any field of study but a key part of being a scientist is having the imagination to actually comprehend and put together your results when needed.

Science has done wonders for us but let's not blind our-selfs here. I mean compared to the amount of shit we collectively don't know still, fucking our science is like a horse and buggie compared to teleportation, hah.

interesting link - so Lets skip Galileo for the moment ...

1) Seems most would agree
science has freed us from many superstitions.

2) Most would agree mystical experience is internal, private, and not a result of reason. As you point out.

But to go  from 1 to 2 and then jump to conclude the scientific method is evil seems quite unnecessary.

Many here like to trash 'science' while they type on their computers, and then attempt to use, what amounts to, using reason to trash reason. Hmmm...

Again, in my opinion, it is the selfishness of the human ego that leads to the misuse of science.
To not use the scientific method , would mean a mechanic couldn't trouble shoot, our car problems to repair the engine. So called 'science' is just a refinement of reason, to eliminate as much bias as possible, and penetrate the unknown more deeply.

That greed, and impatience, and anger, lead to the misuse of everything, does not demonstrate that we would be better of abandoning our ability to reason.

In fact, it would seem that, if we were more reasonable, the reductionist tendencies, associated with some science, and results of science, would be better apprehended, and moderated.
