Re: President Trump calls for unity under one flag, outlines bipartisan deal [Re: Morel Guy]

Nah.

A wall isn't shit and you know it.

The Dems think it's "immoral" after supporting the physical barrier already there.

If the Demand never supported physical barriers, then this would be different.

Right now they are simply suffering from TDS.

People let's think reeeeaaaal hard.  Is a wall really going to stop illegal immigration?  No, it will be a barrier but not a total defense.

$5 billion seems like the usual waste of money at problems.  There will still be drugs.  Just like plan Colombia a waste of money and effort.

The whole thing is so political it doesn't make sense on either side of the reaction.

You aren't focusing on the Policy, but the man. This was good Policy.

TDS often makes people look past policy and attack the actual person with malicious hate.

I do believe him.

It’s not good policy. But there should at least be a debate. Trump had two years to engage this issue and he didn’t do anything to make it happen. He had a DACA offer for $25 million before and he said yes then no. This time the White House said it would sign a continuing resolution and the bill was voted for by nearly every member congress. everyone expected him to sign it and a lot of members went home for the holiday. Then trump changed his mind.

Trump isn’t someone you can negotiate with. He’s too fickle and easy to manipulate by right wing media figures.

Waiting until the democrats won the House to pull this stunt demonstrates how poorly he is suited for this job.  Obama got the ACA passed in his first two years despite massive protests and right wing media attacks. And that was a much harder effort than getting some wall funding.

The only person to blame for not getting the wall is Donald trump. It’s just pure incompetence and laziness. He doesn’t put the work in. He doesn’t make honest offers and he doesn’t understand the issues. This is what happens when you elect a man based on his lies.

Donald Trump immigration drivel:

Quote:
Beautiful -- Hudson River to his right. We built this gorgeous park all along the river. It's gorgeous. People are running; they're in great shape. We ought to all -- some of these guys in the front row, they should do it with me. We could run. [Laughter] Some of my friends over there. Sonny -- maybe Sonny and I will go take a jog. Laughter] But you know what? I'll tell you, these are people that are great people, and they're running and they keep -- and this horrible person, going down 60 miles an hour down a highway, decides, Oh, that's nice. We'll make a right turn. Hits a whole group of people purposely, screaming all sorts of things that they scream. And 8 people died; 12 or 13 were injured. Nobody talks about the injured. You know, some of the injured lost legs, lost arms. You know, this is -- they say, Oh, well, 12 were injured. You know, like, injured -- you think, like, a headache. No, no. They lost arms. They lost legs. One lost two legs. So 12 were horribly injured.
And he's allowed to have his family come here. So they checked, and they said that he had about 22 people came in -- chain migration. In other words, because he's here -- so a whole group of people come in. And we don't want that. We have another one -- the lottery. The lottery. We take people from countries through the lottery.  Now, this is common sense. Do you think the country is giving us their finest? No, they're not. No, they're not. They're giving us the opposite of their finest. And we have a lottery system. Oh, let's pick him out. Oh, wonderful. Doesn't work out too well, this lottery system. But this is the law. This was passed by Democrats and, I guess, Republicans.

He thinks a headache is a type of injury and that other counties run some kind of lottery to send their worst people. Actually I don’t know what he thinks because he babbles incoherently. There is something wrong with this man cognitively.

I bet if you record most people talking and then make a transcript, it will never appear like a well thought out written paper.

There would be pauses, um, buts, like, uh, pause, oh yeah, and so forth.

One thing I like about Trump is that he goes campaigning without any teleprompter.

From the heart.

That was a policy speech.

Two years in he’s winging it like a kid who didn’t do his book report.

I could appreciate Trump's lack of teleprompter if he didn't sound like a retard when he talked. The never ending use of superlatives is not only dishonest, it's painful. Never mind his lack of understanding of anything in the real world.

Trump has replaced using filler words like “um” wth lies. So, instead of saying “we need to build, ummmm, a wall” he says “ we need to build - did you see I won Wisconsin. First time a republican won Wisconsin since they’re telling me a long time. It’s never been done. And I’m bringing steel back to Wisconsin and it’s never been there. Wisconsin has lots of cheese that Canada wasn’t buying so I made them buy cheese and I’ve only been president for two years.”

Wisconsin does have a lot of cheese. Love me some curds.

I believe the US actually has a gigantic stock pile of cheese as well. I've always wondered where it gets stored exactly.

Quote:
More than 200 years ago, this very city was at the center of America’s negotiations during the legendary Louisiana Purchase. No one knew how it would all turn out, but President Thomas Jefferson acted decisively for the American people.  After months of negotiations, we got what no one ever imagined possible.  Not only did we gain New Orleans, we doubled the size of the United States; we secured new parts and ports — new parts of the map and globe that we never thought, and new ports, very importantly for American agriculture; and we made our nation the greatest farm country on God’s Earth.  And it remains that.  And it’s now, for the first time in a long time, getting better.  (Applause.)

If you listen to his remarks, he accidentally says “parts” instead of “ports,” but he’s so afraid of admitting any mistake he has to make up that whole section about new parts.
