wrong humidifier?

This is my ultrasonic humidifier:



The large circular vent on the top conceals a fan, and this is where the vapour is released...is this too big of a vent to cover up, and will doing so prevent proper airflow from the humidifier and pose a fire risk?

Has anyone had to adapt a humidifier of this design?

What should I do?, I hate to think I wasted my money on this thing...

ya the vicks cool mist ultra sonic humidifier is easier to make an adaptor for. id suggest returning that one and buy the vicks or one like it

Yeah, I guess I should have researched a little more, but since I've been following the pF tek as close as possible, there was no mention of WHAT humidifiers to use, and I assumed an ultrasonic was an ultrasonic...

Just get a funnel that is big enough to cover the whole vent and then you can hook the hose to the other end of the funnel and you're set

thats a 'cool mist' unltrasonic, it uses a fan. in a foafs exp it dries out casings, and wouldnt recommend using one.

really?...should i be worried about restricted airflow from the humidifier and an overheating risk?

Just don't mess with the insides of humidifier if your not sure about what you're doing.

Add anything you want to the outside, make some kind of hood to channel the flow into a hose.

so let me get this straight - normal ultrasonics like the Vicks brand don't have a fan?

so this would tell me that there will be an above normal amount of air forced into my terrarium if I use my cool mist - is this a problem? will is really dry out my casings?

Attach a funnel over it like this bottle top. You'll just have a larger version.

No, Cool mists r actually better than ultra-sonic cuz it provides more air exchange, u need to use a pop bottle hooked up to a hose.
What u have is a higher gallon unit, which requires a fan, dun cover the fan.
