That's the idea. It is more expensive, as rye kernels are a lot more expensive than bran. But If you don't have a PC, than the high spawn rate is good for supplementation.
You mean rye kernels supplementation can results less contaminants?
I think they meant that, if you don't have a pressure cooker and are working with sawdust spawn, supplementing the sawdust will perform on par with using rye as your spawn/nutrition source.
Yes?
On second read, I'm confused? lol

By the way. Many people uses straw with rice/wheat bran as supplements. And most people only needs to pasteurize them. Can any of you explain that?

I know that a thin layer of brown rice flour and water 'cooks' itself sterile with only 45 minutes of steam (at 2 miles above sea level, no less). It's how I make my culture dishes.
Is it because it's already broken down and the endospores are exposed to the heat? Don't know, seems likely.
Peace

I have never added the gypsum before and have done ok but haven't been getting the results I think I should. what does the gypsum do and where do I get it?
Thanks for the input!
Interesting the use of chicken manure in the log RR, can I ask what is the reason for the separate pasteurization?
Cheers Frac.

For a beginner in growing mushroom white oyster to be specific, can a coconut sawdust and some rice bran would work? is it also possible to use corn bran rather than rice bran though it is much cheaper to use rice bran.
As of now i do have a plenty o bags of inoculated cottonfruit sawdust mix with rice bran which shows promising result. does the oyster mushroom can survive in a tropical country which has 20-32 Degree Celsius during fruiting time?

If you don't or never used gypsum before don't even bother I have seen no difference in my fruit bodies. Some claim it to be a miracle additive but I think it's just what the cool kids are doing now days. I'm sure there is some science behind the claim but if you are having success why fix what is not broken. Just my opinion so no butthurts please
