oyster mushrooms are easy to grow
    #329645 - 05/30/01 12:12 PM (23 years, 10 months ago)

.
step one, buy/find some oyster mushrooms.
step two, put in fridge in crisper.
step 3 wait till they become covered with fizzy white mycelium.
step 4: dice them all up, mix with big bag of moist hardwood/straw substrait.
step 5, keep moist and at good humidity in tower-style bag with lots of perferations. and wait, voila, oyster mushrooms.
easy as pie.

Sorry Mitch, but I have to disagree. Why go to all the trouble of mixing up substrate, etc.. Just use the garage tek..

No, they were not intended. They're the culmination of years of painstaking neglect. It's been fruiting for two years. Just came from the store like that. Nothing added, no care, it just happened. Can you imagine my delight? Found those clusters today while getting ready to cut the grass.

Anyone want a culture? I have no idea what strain it might be.

People like you really piss me off.

I thought I was pretty cool for getting a grocery store oyster to grow on agar. Those are fantastic!

Hardwood mulch. . . man that sounds promising for a research project or two....Is that a Wallmart item?

The above information is complete fiction.
