Have you seen the hanging bag o stra tek??
It uses one of those tent/cupboards you reasently bought.
You spawn bag of straw and hang them up during fruiting with slits cut in the plastic.
Works really well.

I've been growing pleurotus for many yrs now.Straw while a great production tek is a pain.I've been inoculating alder rounds in the spring with wood dowel spawn and get a nice harvest in fall/winter.I've been using a wild strain I collected which is a pinkish grey and very meaty and flavorful.As common as they are in the woods around here I usually have way more than I need  WR

I'm sure it would work ok(ish) im going to try a mix of both and just straight straw myself.But card board and news paper may be a better way to go as itll hold a better more open structure.

I think if cardboard/paper was a better substrate, then more commercial cultivators would use it, despite organic status.

Hi everyone, newly here. I have a question is it ok to put oyster mushroom growing on straw and bagged in growing chamber with button mushrooms still colonising. It's a mini greenhouse 3 foot x2.5 foot 4foot high
I'm struggling with button mushrooms i am growing on ages horse poo . I pasteurised ect and things go great for a while then something goes wrong.

Welcome to the shroomery. Don't resurrect old threads. A mod is likely to come close this. Open/post a new thread called "Cropping buttons with oyster in same GH" or something like that, at least then you'll get the right people viewing it.
