Do I need to flip my cake?

I assume they are loving the conditions underneath with the pooling of water and darkness and humidity?





Should I leave them be or flip them? I’d say this is about day 6 in fruiting conditions.

Also I think I may be misting too much water. i really try to
Make sure they get water all over and all over the SGFC to keep humidity up. I’d say on avg my humidity is around 80’s+ with temp staying between 72-78

Looks like some of the heads are browning darker than usual. I don't think they will all abort but if mine pinned like that I would flip it over. Not sure what it could hurt since that is where your pins are. :smile: Others will post too if you want another opinion.

I'd flip it if for no other reason than so I could see em grow.


*Not a pro or a cake grower and have never grown in a SGFC.

For sure it does. Just last week somebody was posting pics here of a shoe box they flipped because of this. I do believe its in the shoe box thread and their mushies from the flipped sub grew to maturity.

Some reading on that page and the one before. Using the "search this thread" feature at the bottom left of the page helps immensely  when hunting around.

Leave em be, they will do what they want. The important thing here is taking prints and tissue samples for cloning. After you manage those things dry em, drink em, eat em in a stew... or fresh if you can and want.

How long can tissue samples be stored for and whats best way to store them without going straight to agar immediately

You can refrigerate whole mushrooms for a while. This would not be ideal. I reccomend cloning immediately after harvesting. If you don't have agar go to the store and buy it for $1...
