I’m gonna be honest, that looks nasty. Why are you growing on straight coffee? Cubes won’t like that sub much, way too hot. I mean people have spawned to straight coffee and there is a reason it’s not recommended. If that sub is 100% coffee you should let it consolidate well.. You should try following a well vetted tek assuming what you have there doesn’t pan out. Since it looks contamed as fuck I wouldn’t hope for much.

I think good luck and go with something that actually works before you develop skill and experience. trying to wing it now isn't going to work well

I bought multiple books that said coffee was fine for substrate it seems healthy to me, the discolour you see is wet ground coffee all the other growth is really white.

Most books on mushroom cultivation are either outdated as hell or written by idiots who don’t have a clue what they are talking about. Sounds like your book falls into the clueless category.

Coffee is a nitrogen supplement, and is prone to mold. Most people won’t use coffee grounds for anything these days unless you’re trying to grow pleurotus in which case you can treat them as a garbage disposal.

I might come off as an arrogant elitist hater. But I do know how to grow mushrooms reasonably well.

^^^ This.  Mold will grow on top of liquid coffee left sitting out too long, and will certainly grow on grounds left in the filter after just a couple of days.

No, no, no.  You're marketing yourself all wrong.  The proper PR response is "I'm an eccentric, mushroom growing genius."

If you're a genius, always use "eccentric" to explain personality traits.  It sounds a lot better to the unwashed masses.

Hey I'm pretty sure you should have ypur cake on something, and not just directly on the coir. Just a little square of aluminum foil, or the lid from the container.

The picture isn't that good so I won't comment on the cake itself

Good luck

It still looks nasty imo but if you’re happy I guess that’s what matters.
