Cleaning jars without a dishwasher
    #25683632 -

Any suggestions on what I should use to clean out contaminated jars if I don't have access to a dishwasher ? Would just soap and water be good enough, considering they'll be PC'd again anyway ?

Yes soap and water is all you need, I put some bleach in my wash water but its not necessary.

Am I the only person who just rinses their jars out with some warm water after spawning? It gets them pretty much clean. Unless they get really caked with crap or contam (very rare), I don't bother with soap and a thorough scrub except once every several cycles.

Pretty much what I do too. I'm afraid it's a case of over thinking things. If a jar is really bad, I'll take a brush to it. Sometimes my gf does them with the regular dishes.

I set them all up in the tub and use a handheld shower head to blast em.
If they’re cakey or grains are stuck I fill them and leave them in the tub overnight or for a few hours.
Then shake the water around and dump.

I had some reishi jars I neglected and myc grew into my polyfil lids a lil.
I boiled those with a bit of vinegar. One was bad so I hit it with peroxide while it was on the drying rack.

Oh, the benign things we do to ensure the safety and security of our grows.

I use boiled distilled water when making BRF... I know...

I'll do two or three runs before I even rinse my jars out.

Last time my old lady cleaned shoeboxes I left in the sink they still had crap stuck on them. I waited until she was gone and did 'em again.
:bitchplease: :crazy2:
Jars get a rinse, brush, rinse. I don't want to sterilize filth but I'm not obsessing over it either.

I re wash the dishes my wife washes all the time. Apparently plates and bowls don't have a bottom. But you stack them on top of each other and the bottom gets covered in grease or whatever else. I even point them out and go hey wtf is this but meh.

My wife is the same. I believe the dishwasher works wonders, but it doesn't work miracles. She will place stacked Tupperware in there and say "I don't understand why that won't work" Literally Tupperware stacked 3 or 4 deep. SMH

I don't have a dishwasher so when jars have contams I boil them for 5 mins or so.

Growing has turned me into a bit of a clean freak.
