Help Fixing Over Hydrated Coir/Vermiculte
    #25664797 -

I purchased Coco Coir Bricks from a new supplier because the my original supplier stopped carrying that product.

The new coir bricks were supposed to come with a weight around 650g. They came super packed with most weighing 750-900g.  I split the bricks so i would have 650g for my bucket tek recipe.

After adding 2 quarts of vermiculite and 4 quarts of h20 like normal,
The sub turned out extremely wet.. like mud.. like cups of water draining from the sub mix.
The coir hardly expanded...

Now left with this heavy soil like coir in 9 buckets how do i fix this?

1. Put in a pillowcase (sterilized in pc) and allow substrate to dry and try to squeeze the pillow case?

2. lay out the coir and press it to get excess moisture out. add gypsum and coffee.. stick into bags and do a proper pasteurization on the sub?

This coir has a consistency that I've never seen before. Im going to contact the supplier on monday.  I like having a set recipe.. throwing bricks in that range in 200 maybe even 300 extra grams its going to be hard to get a consistent hydration in all my sub.

saying maybe i should figure out a number with this new products consistency and add the appropriate amounts of h2o to what 650g of this product with absorb?

It is true that a the extra weight doesn't really amount to much.  I will play with the recipe with these new bricks.. see if a full brick and 3-4 quarts will do..

stuff is complete shit tho.. im not going to have to hydrate extra material.. this stuff does not expand like normal coir.. one brick is prob 6-8 qts
