Ph adjustment for verm/coir clarification please
    #1711275 - 07/13/03 01:49 PM (14 years, 11 months ago)

How do I adjust the ph for a verm coir casing?
Do oyster shells effect the ph at all right after you add it? If not then would I just add a certain amount? If I use oyster shell alone do I run the risk of the ph getting to high as the oyster shell breaks down? Is lime also necessary?

Im gonna test the ph Im just a little confused on how to get the ph right and keep it there.
Some help will be greatly appreciated
Thank you

i asked the almost the same the question a few days ago,and i understand that it's hard question to answer.shirley is right thou for just verm and coir there's no need for it.first yu gotta test your substrate and add lime accordingly, stay around 7.5 to 8 thats good for mushies.i would lime as to hydrated lime cause it last longer.it'll hold the ph in the range you want it in.hydrated lime works fast but dies out sooner, the shrooms product that piss that'll make your substrate more acidic.hope that help ya out alittle bit.
