Weed a bad idea when struggling with anxiety and depression?

a little over a month ago I decided to quit smoking because I noticed that when I smoked, I was getting really paranoid and the symptoms of my depression were especially bad when I was high. Weed is an enhancer so during good times it would feel amazing but it recently stopped being fun and the paranoia was too much so I stopped. Do you think as a general rule that its a bad idea for people to smoke weed when depressed or do you think this is just specifically me?

Course, it could be argued that most drugs are a bad idea when depressed.

I use weed for both depression and anxiety, works wonders for me. What kind of paranoid thoughts are you having and have you attempted to just ignore any thoughts that come into your mind?

I have stopped smoking everyday because i dont think it goes well with depression. I get this mind fog that i almost didnt know i had until i stopped. And the high wasn’t as good anymore. When i smoke once a week or less i get a more psychedelic mindset that i can use to “deep” and figure stuff out. Smokes several years until i tried to use it like this, i can get scary and uncomfortable but from my experience its the same as with other psychedelics. Try to let go and go with it.
So i think it depends how often you use it. At least thats where I’m at now, but it could be because I really dont wont to quit weed all together :smile:

Anyone else use weed under meditation and feel its a medicine?

How do you feel after a month with no weed?

I was very depressed and anxious. Tried to end it all twice. After getting out of hospital I started smoking weed, loads of it. I'd not smoke for a week and hit 5 bowls and went and laid down in a dark room. The weed paranoia those nights was hellish, but I worked through it all, and whilst I was high asked the questions to why I was paranoid, then why I was anxious. I've had a few epiphanys when high as shit, mainly about my mental health and those thoughts have changed the way I look at life. Weed saved me I think.

Never thought weed could do that.

Now I've found mushrooms. I'm hoping to continue the work that weed started.

Sounds beautiful man, keep up the good work, a lot of people underestimate the power of cannabis. Its very interesting when used as an entheogen for sure.

Usually I get a paranoid thought that I have humiliated myself somehow and that I will never be able to recover from that humiliation. Its bullshit, but then the thought goes to "well what if you just don't remember that you humiliated yourself because you don't want to." I never know what it is that was supposed to humiliate me though, I just get the feeling that I have.

I don’t know if it’s a bad idea necessarily. If you can figure out a way to control it Then you may learn something about yourself. Kind of like tripping and having a difficult experience. If you can work through it a few times you may realize that the worry is for nothing. Idk just spitballing.

If you want to come back to it start with very low doses, like you would with other entheogens. Turn on your favorite tunes and try doing nothing but letting the sounds fill your ears, dont "try" to listen to it, but try NOT to try to listen to it. Stay with me here lol, doing this is another way of keeping your attention focused on 1 thing and allowing all other things happening in your mind and body to flow, releasing all negative energy, similar to skilled breath work, but this way can be easier for some people to reach a therapeutic state.

Cannabis is so much nicer when you use it less frequently. Of course if youre using it for a medical condition you may have to use it daily But if not, then only smoking once a week makes the experience so much nicer and really limits negative side effects like paranoia or loss of motivation.

if yur gettin anxious from weed then you are not smoking enough and what i mean by that is if you smoke on the regular and get high several times a day there is a least likely chance you will ever get anxious i smoke every day and i stopped getting anxious and now i kind of really like it when i do get anxious especially when i eat some acid with it  :bongload:

Yeah, possibly. I'd only use it at that stage to watch TV or something to relax, I wouldn't recommend abusing it; etc. I'd use it often or a lot during school and don't think it helped much, although it can bring users who smoke together closer. It's a mild psychedelic so what people really want is probably edibles or lower doses of mushrooms for that, call it microdosing, but that might be more fun or useful for people, what they're looking for. Could be less time consuming or expensive as well.

As somebody who always had that "weed for everyone all the time it'll save the world!!" mindset, it says quite a lot that I now believe the total opposite.

Daily smoker for 15+ years, finally realised a few months ago (after stopping entirely) how negative constant smoking can be, even now when I relapse into smoking a shitload for a week, my mental health gets shot to shit - much larger downswings and anxiety than when I'm being sobre.
Not to mention that generally I don't look after myself as well in other ways when smoking (eat shit, dont exercise or clean up the house as much etc) which further compounds the mental issues.

I think cannabis is one of the most abused medecines (spiritually speaking), and should be treated with reverence in a proper set and setting.

People really are abusing the drug, I've cut down from everyday of the week too three days a week recently. When I smoke by myself I only smoke small amounts as well, around .2g

But I'm sure as shit not going to stop :jah:

I would say cannabis should be respected like all drugs because at times it can feel like it's too much. I also think that 99% of anxiety with cannabis is due to the stigma from our society and one not being in a proper setting. Mind set has a lot to do with a bad experience but with cannabis if you feel safe and don't need to worry it's almost impossible to have a bad experience imo

I also agree with you. Honestly I think having to pay for it causes one to smoke more for whatever reason. I started growing and I smoke half as much as I did when I was younger purchasing. It's also possible having psychedlic experiences intensify cannabis which I've noticed a bit ime.

I used to smoke around an eighth every 2 days. Now an eighth lasts me around a week. Working also is part of it for me. I cannot be stoned at work I fuck up with simple tasks and my motor skills while stoned make me seem like an unconfident weirdo

Growing my own too. Last harvest was a dry pound in a 4’x4’ tent. I don’t know about you but just growing it relieves some anxiety and depression. Not to mention it’s ridiculously easy on your wallet. If you live somewhere where it’s illegal the paranoia may not be worth it especially if you are into booms though.

Nice that's a solid yield. I produce around 1/4 lbs a week with regular customers I'm always paranoid :rasta:

Is cbd legal in all the states? I can get cbd dabs from the smoke shops here. Conpletely elliminates anxiety, whether u use it by itself or with weed.
