Need advice, Psilocybe Stuntzii
    #25633053 -

so i found some psilocybe stuntzii and i have a couple 'okay' stem butts.

they were found in grass sod and not wood chips.

my first instinct is i should get the stem butts on cardboard like i usually do with psilocybe cyanescens. but the stuntzii was in a lawn and not in wood chips like i find cyans.

would the cardboard tek work on something i found in grass? im under the impressing stuntzii CAN grow on wood chips but ive never seen it personally.

what do you think i should do with the stem butts to preserve for colonization?

well i decided to just put them on some corrugated cardboard and see what happens.

i think it should work since they say stuntzii is a woodlover? im just unsure since i got them out of a lawn lol.

i have panaeolus cinctulus in the lawn at my house and we also have a few areas that have bark mulch, so i really hope i can get some healthy mycelium growth on the cardboard and then take steps to colonize my lawn and bark lol

take a few prints anyways so i can always mess around with a LC perhaps. i wont be happy until i have stuntzii popping up in my personal yard lol!

They are woodlovers but not aggresive like cyans are so i would not get my hopes up for cardboard.
They are not too difficult from spores to get a great bed from

okay cool, maybe i woulda had better luck on cardboard if i had found them in woodchips i just had a couple that really bruised quite significantly so i thought id attempt to preserve the genetics lol

last time i found them i attempted to bury them in bark but the next morning i checked on them(they were only a couple pieces of bark below) there was these tiny white bug things all over them evidently eating it lol.

i regularly have this problem when replanting stembutts into new places lol..

got em on cardboard already so we will see if anything comes from that otherwise ill just have to do something fun with a couple prints!

I didn't think Stuntzii bruise blue aside from the ring on the stem, the ones I find dont atleast? Also I'm no expert but I've heard that the ones on lawns are growing off wood material under the grass, that's just what I've heard tho

The ones I seen bruise the most blue were younger lighter color ones. Every time I find them they are all fairly mature and digging around I can find a couple that still have that light orangey tannish color. I se the most bruising around the cap margins and the stem near the base more.

The reason why I want to preserve the genetics, one specimen in particular bruising rivaled cyanescens but it too may be because it was younger. Had a small pin attached that was solid blue lol.

I’m sure they weren’t on wood chips they came up out of a small patch of grass that was sod/turf whatever comes in those squares, and it’s less then a year old. This is the only place I’ve ever found them out of the 5 years I’ve looked lol.

We got buckets of rain last night so I hope it produces again and also hope the dude doesn’t decide to randomly mow his little parking strip again lol. Gotta get em flourishing in my own yard!

well i dont have a PC so the only cultivation ive actually attempted was brf cakes that i sterilized by boiling water and steaming them for a couple hours lol...

i may invest in a PC tho, i was thinking about maybe getting some plates and messing around with agar or something along those lines. every now and then i find some specimens that just look so prime with the amounts of bluing lol

this year i got some stem buts from cyanescens going on cardboard and they are from a collection that blued so much they are still royal blue in spots even after drying. i usually dont see much blue after they are bone dry but these are looking intense!

if i were to spawn with grain, is it pretty easy to get stuntzii to fruit indoors? i have quite a bit of cinctulus prints as well, and also still have a couple popping in my yard i could collect the stembutts from. ive never really thought about other species until a little while ago.

thanks for all the help so far steering me in the correct direction

Yeah fruiting indoors is sort of difficult but not impossible.
A pc is a great investment all around
