name of the wind is probably th best fantasy book I read in my life.

Wise mans ffear is also great. if not better.

Thrid book: Nobody knows when the hell its coming out.  I been waiting 5 years and I completely forgot the plot.

Thats exciting!

So far one of the best fantasy books Ive read is Voyage of the Shadowmoon by Sean McMullen.

Im about 10 pages into Name of the Wind and its already getting intense :lol:

If you actually enjoy that part you’ll love the book.
The first little bit is nice and poetic with the silence of three parts and everything but the story doesn’t really get rolling until Kvolth starts telling his story.

Read the first 100ish pages back when narratives were making sense to me
am hoping to give it another go in a week or two; going through another medication shift at the moment, and everything is all garbled

with regards to what was read, enjoyed the fact that it focuses on a difficult childhood in character building
children, even more notably orphans, sit on the edge of a real liminal bridge with regards to the permissibility of illegal or immoral actions
so it works as a good way to give a character a morally grey background, and helps to make Kvothe feel more authentic as opposed to a stereotypical hero

enjoyed the opening portion of the book sufficiently to not feel bothered by the prospect of re-reading it in picking this back up

He did a good job with that background without making it too tropy.

left off as he was about to pay his way to school
the writing and characterization was strong enough that it would likely be feasible for me to pick back up at my leaving off point
but it has also been so long and had various attempts at following other narratives in video games
that revisiting from the beginning will likely feel rewarding
